How to profit from Betting Exchanges (BEX)

How would you like to trade a market where you get large regular price swings every 10 minutes in the afternoon, seven days a week. A
market where all prices are set purely by supply and demand, few transaction costs, no middle men and you only pay commission if you win? Where you can freely act as a market maker and where you have direct market access and where you can create a spread for others to take?

Betfair has revolutionised the betting market and created an open platform for exchanging risk on sports events. This market is now viewed much more like a traditional financial risk market than an old fashioned betting market. Smart users have realised that there are huge opportunities on Betfair because they can buy and sell risk in much the same way they would in a normal financial market but without the burden of cost or the restricted access that is usually associated with traditional financial markets.

WOODIE - 29 Sep 2005 17:02 - 4899 of 10502

fundy i laid bolton at 2.2 looking to buy back at 3 or greater they cant afford to play for 0-0 if they go 1-0 down they are up against it

Fundamentalist - 29 Sep 2005 17:05 - 4900 of 10502

Woodie

can get 3.15 now Woodie - playing for 0-0 seems all they know on the first half showing. And if the commentator really believes this is a 4-3-3 formation he should be out of a job

Fundamentalist - 29 Sep 2005 17:06 - 4901 of 10502

Get in - Bolton 1-0 down - now should become a bit more interesting

Fundamentalist - 29 Sep 2005 17:08 - 4902 of 10502

WOODIE - 29 Sep 2005 17:09 - 4903 of 10502

WOODIE - 29 Sep 2005 17:55 - 4912 of 10502

thats hope the others tonight are as good as that one after the dull 0-0 last night that must have been one of the lowest traded matches when i looked just before kick off only 300k.
can someone explain when they is a goal why all unmatched bets are cancelled.

Fundamentalist - 29 Sep 2005 18:02 - 4913 of 10502

Woodie

they do so due to the large leap in prices that a goal causes. It stops people basically backing or laying at a false price if they are not sitting with their finger on the cancel button - some people like it some dont.

Was just looking at the Lens game and before i could take a position they were 2-0 up - doh.

Planning on backing Dnipro against Hibs

Can anyone explain to me why Everton are 1.67 to beat a side they lost 5-1 to in the first leg.

Fundamentalist - 29 Sep 2005 18:05 - 4914 of 10502

See there is a rumour that the game involving Roma will end 2-2 tonight.

Just checked the prices and 2-2 is trading at 4.9 - Roma won the first leg 5-1 the draw in the outright market is 3.25.

Tempting to back the draw and lay 2-2 - any thoughts anyone?

WOODIE - 29 Sep 2005 18:10 - 4915 of 10502

fundy the everton game was the only other one that i thought was a false price bookmakers give crap odds for home based teams as they know money will come in from mug punters the man u game the other night is a prime example bookies reported not much interest at 1/3 on but only a few moved the price to 2/5 .

WOODIE - 29 Sep 2005 18:15 - 4916 of 10502

fundy just checked prices for 2-2 vc bet have it at 4/1 but ladbrokes go 14/1 these are from oddschecker seems they is something in the rumour odds difference to large
