Amstrad plc
Amstrad E3 e-mailer sales promotion
Amstrad plc announced today that the retail price of its E3 e-mailer is being
significantly reduced in most retail outlets from around 99 to around 49.
This planned price reduction, which will commence over the Easter weekend in
Argos, Dixons Stores Group, Comet and certain other retailers, is aimed at
encouraging customers to buy the units in pairs thereby facilitating the use of
the phone's video call technology. New software has also been downloaded to the
existing base of E3 e-mailers which allows users to connect a digital camera and
view photos on the e-mailer screen which can then be sent out to friends and
family by e-mail.
Amstrad's Commercial Director Simon Sugar said today:
'The new software and lower retail price makes the E3 e-mailer a compelling
proposition as an all-round communication device. The fact that you can now buy
two E3 e-mailers for around 100 should significantly increase the use of video
phone telephony in the home'.

Today's drop is all about the e-mailer - so the newer version (with video camera-what next?) will now sell for 49 (half price) -merely repeating the pattern of the first e-mailer.
I didn't like the logic of the first one, less do I like the second, yet AS continues with it - he's brave.

I don't Know. Projected yield about 4.8-5% Turnover up, Profits up, EPS up. But the market doesn't like Sugar or his Top Boxes or Video phones.
I have held this share for yonks, still think it is worth a hold but wish I hadn't been greedy at 200+.
Amstrad rarely seems to issue an information, which is probably oe of the reasons for its stagnation.

I`m still in these bought in at 1.72 and it has been downhill since.
I noticed the rise as well on Friday and was very happy to see some recovery in SP,these are one i`m reasonably happy to hold as the dividend is not bad.

The EVO broker note I promised. Medium term target price 225p.
Yesterday afternoons brief trading statement revealed that the Board expects the
FY06 outlook to be significantly ahead of market forecasts on the back of better
than expected 2H sales. The Set-Top-Box (STB) Division is driving this success and
specifically demand for Sky+ boxes, incorporating the personal video recorder
(PVR), continues to grow.
Sky seems to have experienced a strong Christmas trading period, feeding
through to increased demand for Amstrads STBs. This will have been exacerbated
by problems at another of Skys suppliers, Pace Micro. Paces December trading
statement revealed that component shortages were delaying product shipments.
We had downgraded our Amstrad FY06 expectations in September when the
Company warned that shareholders should not expect the same level of results as
FY05, but it seems the Board has been surprised by the weight of demand flowing
through in the latter part of its financial year. Consequently we are lifting our FY06
sales forecast from 82m to 97m and the PBT forecast from 15.9m back up to
20.0m.
We are leaving our FY07 forecast unchanged at this point. FY07 does show a
slightly lower margin, as STB margins are still expected to come under some
pressure. We expect FY06 margins to be particularly strong as the PVR boxes are
a high margin product.
We are now expecting EPS to rise from 17p in FY05 to 17.2p in FY06, leaving the
stock on a multiple of just over 10x. With the continuing strength of the Sky
business and the improving outlook, we feel a 13x multiple would be more
appropriate and are raising our target price to 225p and upgrading the stock to a
Buy recommendation.
The Company has reviewed a draft of this research note, but no changes have been made
Brief but very positive Interim trading
statement
Sky seems to have had a good
Christmas
Upgrading forecasts
FY07 unchanged for now
Stock looking very cheap
Sky+ success means profits significantly ahead of forecast
Yesterdays Interim trading statement revealed AMT expects much higher
2H sales than previously thought and we are consequently raising our FY06
forecasts and upgrading to a Buy despite the rise in the share price.
Mkt Cap 142m Net Cash39m
