Easynet (ESY)

proptrade - 22 Jan 2004 11:27

i was wondering if anyone out there had any strong views? this company appears to be delivering and has just turned EBITA positive after a great trading statement last week. seems like upside to +200p once results are out.

any comments or thoughts would be appreciated.

A positive statement I would say, on target to go cash flow positive, new European contracts, Freedom2surf and encouraging early take up of UK online.

This part is interesting:

"We have also been trialling a 24Mbs service on our local
loops and expect to launch this during the second half of the year."

Would this be the quickest service in the UK? Could be a good earner if businesses and other organisations use it.

Also, Deutsche upped their holding again yesterday to 15.21%.

all good. i emailed the company about the 24mbp and i think it could be the fastest service anywhere.

all on course, and hopefully some news coverage will take things higher.

Nice one. I think it must be the fastest in the UK at present so hopefully it will get a lot of interest. I was quite happy with the statement but it seems one analyst was not as happy. I would also argue that Deutsche upping their holding again is another positive.

proptrade - 26 Apr 2005 12:55 - 493 of 602

which analyst was not happy? i heard the agm comments were well recieved.

gavdfc - 26 Apr 2005 12:59 - 494 of 602

Don't know which one exactly but found this earlier.

If as you say agm comments went down well, then I would assume that perhaps it is just the one analyst who wasn't as happy with the statement. I read it as positive though.

LONDON (SHARECAST) - Pan-European broadband networking company Easynet expects to turn cash flow turn positive by the end of June this year and report an operating profit by end of December, it told shareholders today.

Chairman Keith Todd said the core business of providing IP networks across Europe is continuing to perform well and the group has made recent additions to its customer base.

"We have had a positive response to our LLUStream wholesale product from the industry and are pleased to announce that we have secured a contract today to provide LLUStream to Freedom2surf,"

proptrade - 26 Apr 2005 13:02 - 496 of 602

a bit of a non-statement. Cables are a 3bn company...great that they are in out backyard here...

gavdfc - 26 Apr 2005 13:03 - 497 of 602

Snippet form an artcile today on the Register:

"Middlesbrough-based ISP Onyx was the first to sign up to the service and now independent outfit Freedom2Surf has been named as Easynet's second customer.

And there are "others in the pipeline" apparently, although it seems some ISPs have been too shy to go public on their tie-up with Easynet.

Speaking at the company's AGM today chairman Keith Todd said: "We have had a positive response to our LLUStream wholesale product from the industry and are pleased to announce that we have secured a contract today to provide LLUStream to Freedom2surf...having signed up several smaller ISP's for the service already."

A spokeswoman for the telco declined to say which other ISPs had signed up but insisted that Easynet had contacted around 100 service providers so far to punt the wholesale alternative to BT."

great snippet. thx gavdfc.

gavdfc - 26 Apr 2005 13:22 - 499 of 602

Thought you would like it, I did! Hopefully Onyx and Fredom2surf are just the first 2 of many ISP's to sign up. I wonder what that analyst makes of the "others in the pipeline" now!

proptrade - 26 Apr 2005 13:23 - 500 of 602

especially with 100 enquires...

gavdfc - 26 Apr 2005 13:27 - 501 of 602

Yep, growing bit by bit would suit me, although an onslaught of new contracts would also be nice. :-)) Lunchtime soon, cheese salad roll and a cuppa!

proptrade - 26 Apr 2005 13:49 - 502 of 602

just bought a taste the difference cheddar ploughmans from sainsburies, washed down with freshly squeezed OJ and a bag of crisps!

gavdfc - 26 Apr 2005 14:14 - 503 of 602

Tasty! As was the 75k at 90.18 from earlier. Nothing beats fresh OJ, as long as it doesn't have the pips in it!

proptrade - 26 Apr 2005 14:21 - 504 of 602

no pips...

saw that trade go through and thought..nice!

hopefully upward momentum tomorrow. the poblem is that we need to see real numbers and news and maybe a takeover rumour!

gavdfc - 26 Apr 2005 14:36 - 505 of 602

Last year a trading statement was out 1st July so maybe same this year. If we can get some of the 100 or so mentioned ISP's signed up then that should give us some momentum. Of course, takeover rumours then that would def move us up!

Looking at the markets overall here and in the US, I think that may have scared some of from buying anything at the moment. 100 and 200 point swings up and down on the Dow no doubt scares some off entering the markets full stop. Of course, for those trading the indices it presents great trading opportunities.

proptrade - 26 Apr 2005 14:43 - 506 of 602

they are great opportunities...the thing is volatilty has spiked which i think is a good thing.

by the way found this article..

gavdfc - 26 Apr 2005 14:51 - 507 of 602

Nice article, cheers. So BT are testing 18mb and we have done 24mb, ahead of them which is nice.

Last week's volatility worked out well for me, especially on Friday, rapid moves late in the day. Great long and short trades on the Dow.

proptrade - 26 Apr 2005 14:53 - 508 of 602

it just makes life more interesting when there is movement = opportunity!

gavdfc - 26 Apr 2005 15:06 - 509 of 602

Indeed it does sir! Fridays sharp fall then rapid bounce was an excellent end to the week. 2 profit opportunities within minutes, short then long. I wonder if any brokers will put out a new note after this mornings AGM? Surely Deutsches increased buying will not have gone unnoticed.
