How to profit from Betting Exchanges (BEX)

How would you like to trade a market where you get large regular price swings every 10 minutes in the afternoon, seven days a week. A
market where all prices are set purely by supply and demand, few transaction costs, no middle men and you only pay commission if you win? Where you can freely act as a market maker and where you have direct market access and where you can create a spread for others to take?

Betfair has revolutionised the betting market and created an open platform for exchanging risk on sports events. This market is now viewed much more like a traditional financial risk market than an old fashioned betting market. Smart users have realised that there are huge opportunities on Betfair because they can buy and sell risk in much the same way they would in a normal financial market but without the burden of cost or the restricted access that is usually associated with traditional financial markets.

fundy the everton game was the only other one that i thought was a false price bookmakers give crap odds for home based teams as they know money will come in from mug punters the man u game the other night is a prime example bookies reported not much interest at 1/3 on but only a few moved the price to 2/5 .

WOODIE - 29 Sep 2005 18:15 - 4916 of 10502

Woodie

the big question is is it for real or a hoax and someone is laying the short price happily? we'll find out later though tempted to back over 2.5 goals. If the game goes 1-0, 1-1, 2-1 i shall be laying the side leading 2-1

Fundamentalist - 29 Sep 2005 18:57 - 4922 of 10502

Evening woodie

been trading the marseille game with small success - pretty poor game that ended 0-0 and going into extra time

Wish id gone with my gut feel on the Roma game - lay the 2-2 and back the draw

WOODIE - 29 Sep 2005 21:57 - 4929 of 10502

with the roma game someone has done well to get bookies running for cover ,wheres everybody else tonight ?

Fundamentalist - 29 Sep 2005 22:03 - 4930 of 10502

Harlosh and Bakko are out in manchester (im supposed to be with them but have tonsilitis), Scrip was running a course today, dunno about PTH

Called the right bet in the Roma game just no conviction lol

ptholden - 29 Sep 2005 22:07 - 4931 of 10502

hi guys

sounds like you have all had a good night on the footy. Just back from Scrip's course so no participation from me this evening. Had a good day, just got to try and put into practise all the knowledge Scrip passesd on. Should have taken a camcorder!!

Seriously though, now have the strategy to start trading rather than hoping for the best. No more backing 0-0 draws for me (well, perhaps now and again).

Catch you all later

pth

WOODIE - 29 Sep 2005 22:08 - 4932 of 10502

shame would have been a very good night for you before i went out looked at the odds being taken on the 2-2 it was around the 5-5.5 mark cant belive people got sucked into it.

Fundamentalist - 29 Sep 2005 22:08 - 4933 of 10502

Evening pth - if youd seen either of the middlesborough or marseilles games youd be an ardent 0-0 backer!!!!!

ptholden - 29 Sep 2005 22:10 - 4934 of 10502

Fundy

lol, perhaps there is something in backing these 0-0 draws?? :-))
