THE TALK TO YOURSELF THREAD. (NOWT)

goldfinger - 09 Jun 2005 12:25

Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).

Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.

cheers GF.

Generally, immigrants do not queue jump housing and other key benefits. The ones who get the housing etc are the asylum seekers. If an asylum seeker is accepted as genuine they are treated on a par with UK residents. The problems arise due to the fact that most of them arrive with often large families. They then get better treatment than people here due to their need being greater than single people, couples and small families. It would be the same if there was a large UK family that was homeless. In the end, you have to decide if you want to offer asylum to people in need. The system is abused to a large extent and perhaps that is where effort should be spent.

cynic - 05 Nov 2014 15:51 - 49353 of 81564

asylum seeker or immigrant, i perceive no great difference, and sure as hell "your" asylum seekers get precedence over "our own" as you effectively admit

TANKER - 05 Nov 2014 16:04 - 49354 of 81564

to seek asylum should you not seek asylum at the first country you enter by passing throw that country should mean you are not an asylum seeker they want to reach the uk at all cost . they are not asylum seekers just after jumping the long queue it is just a scam in 98% of cases

Haze,

Hear you help is needed in that tory bastion Rochester.

Just in case you missed this

Labour ahead in more Conservative seats – but not by much
Wednesday, 5 November, 2014 in Marginal seats

By Lord Ashcroft

In my previous round of battleground polling, published last month, I looked at eleven constituencies where the Conservatives have majorities of up to 4.8% over Labour. I found that nine of them would change hands on the basis of my snapshots, with swings to Labour ranging from 2% to 8%, averaging 5% in the seats as a whole."

I think the effective difference is that immigrants often turn up by themselves and bring more family later. Asylum seekers often turn up with the whole families. Certainly a lot of asylum seekers are fraudulent. You have to be here to claim asylum. Some turn up on tourist flights and then claim asylum on landing. We don't send them back until we have investigated their claims which due to backlogs can take a very long time; years in some cases.

TANKER - 05 Nov 2014 16:32 - 49357 of 81564

that is why we are going to vote ukip we are sick of the bloody lies and more lies
round up all illegals and those that hide them and deport them,
in force the law to any person hiding a illegal to be deported

Haystack - 05 Nov 2014 16:40 - 49358 of 81564

Voting for UKIP won't change anything. Only a government can change the things you dislike. UKIP are a protest party but won't have any power. If you want these things changed then vote for a strong government. A Conservative clear majority would make it possible to make the changes. Other combinations will not.

The other combinations are

Labour majority - no change
Various coalitions - no change

TANKER - 05 Nov 2014 16:45 - 49359 of 81564

hay , Cameron is a liar on giving us a vote of in out it would not happen ,
the eu is a stinking rotten band of crooks and not good for the uk people
why can any scum come to the uk and get free medical and we have to pay in all eu countries it stinks and we want out .

Haystack - 05 Nov 2014 16:47 - 49360 of 81564

Of course there would be a referendum. He would have such a back bench revolt if he didn't. You have no reason to think that he won't give the vote

TANKER - 05 Nov 2014 16:48 - 49361 of 81564

hay tell me and the rest of this bb what the brittish public get out of being in the eu because I can thing of only one thing the scum .

now is your chance to tell all on this bb

TANKER - 05 Nov 2014 16:48 - 49362 of 81564

hays yes their may be a vote but not in or out

Haystack - 05 Nov 2014 16:50 - 49363 of 81564

You don't have to pay in EU countries for medical care. Just get a free EHIC card. It entitles you to free medical care in the EU. I have used it and found it works fine.

I take out travel insurance as well as do visitors to the UK.

Fred1new - 05 Nov 2014 16:52 - 49364 of 81564

Haze,

If what you wrote is true, why is Wavy Dave Jumping to Nigel Farage's tune?

Farage has got Cameron like a monkey on a string.

Haystack - 05 Nov 2014 16:53 - 49365 of 81564

Of course it will be IN or OUT. The trouble is that you may not like the result. The balance is pretty even at present and any improvements to our deal will tip it decidedly towards IN.

TANKER - 05 Nov 2014 16:57 - 49366 of 81564

hays you are wrong the e111 is for only minor and I do travel a lot and they will not except the card the doctor wants cash or your insurance .
Poland as no free health for any non polish to go to Germany want insurance docs
Portugal the same Italy want cash and docs .

TANKER - 05 Nov 2014 16:59 - 49367 of 81564

65% want out that is what the pols say and getting higher ever day
I know no one who wants to stay in

Haystack - 05 Nov 2014 17:02 - 49368 of 81564

I may well vote OUT, but that may not be the majority view. You don't want a vote, you want to leave.

Even UKIP could not take us out out of the EU. They would require a vote in the commons, which would not succeed unless there had been a referendum. In a referendum, they might well lose the argument. It was only a couple of weeks ago that the majority wanted to stay in. Currently the majority wants out, but that is temporary and due to the recent EU bill. The public are notoriously fickle. In a few weeks it will be wanting to stay in again.
