VANE MINERALS, A Cheaper And Lower Risk Route Into The Uranium Market. (VML)

goldfinger - 08 Mar 2005 09:20

UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE..

COMPANY WEB SITE.........

http://www.vaneminerals.com/

THE PRICE OF URANIUM IS GOING BALISTIC...

The uranium spot price hasn't seen a down month since 2001. For years now, uranium producers have met just 60% of total annual demand - the other 40% coming from government stockpiles and decommissioned nuclear warheads. This can go on for only so long.

The tightness of supply comes at a time of atomic resurgence. Three large-scale factors have turned the tide in favour of nuclear energy:
geopolitics, global warming and developing world growth.

Analysts are debating over wether the SP of Uranium increase will be three fold within 2007?.

Looks like to me, the best play on the UK market for Uranium and it hasnt gotten away yet like the other two ZBA Zareba and URA Uranium which have multi bagged. Its also in a position to fund its development with a new gold mine producing. Ive added twice this morning and think this one could be very big. Heres the announcement...........

Vane Minerals PLC
07 March 2005

VANE Minerals plc (AIM: VML)

VANE Announces Diversification Into Uranium Exploration And Development

Vane Minerals ('VANE' or 'the Company') announces that it is diversifying its
current project portfolio by entering into the uranium exploration and
development business.

To date 7 uranium targets have been successfully claimed by the Company and 28
further properties have been identified and are under development. VANE expects
to finalise its property position by the end of the first quarter 2005. The
Company is targeting uranium projects that are either at, or near, resource
stage or targets that exhibit similar surface features to mines with past
production, but that have not yet been evaluated for the presence of uranium.

The 35 properties identified are located within a uranium district with
significant past production as well as significant resources. Due to the
current uranium market conditions, we prefer to not identify the location until
we complete our property position. Previous drilling data available for some of
the 7 properties successfully claimed indicate grade intersects from 0.34 up to
1.78% U3O8.

VANE has incorporated a 100% owned subsidiary to hold its uranium properties and
has also successfully recruited a uranium geologist, Kristopher K. Hefton B.Sc.,
who has considerable experience in this field and is a great addition to the
VANE team. Mr. Hefton has worked with VANE's exploration team in the past during
his time at Freeport McMoran, and he has also worked for Barrick Gold
Corporation, Homestake Mining Company and Energy Fuels Nuclear Inc.

Michael Spriggs, Chairman of VANE, commented, 'We are delighted to announce the
addition of these uranium assets to the VANE portfolio and will update the
market with more substantial details once further properties have been claimed.
The uranium market has been strong for some time now, reflecting a long-term
forecast supply shortage and the growing recognition that nuclear energy offers
a cleaner and more energy efficient fuel source. Through our extensive network,
we have identified some quality projects and look forward to releasing further
details when appropriate.'

Snap GF. I started out investing when I was 17 too. That was only 2 years ago mind you. Hope I can achieve something close to your success in the future. Ive had a few stocks that have been spot on so far, and a few piles of crap, and Ive made a few mistakes, especially when it comes to taking profits. But you learn from your mistakes and take the good with the bad. P.S. cant wait to have a look at this oil gem that your teasing us with.

Just copied this from the HMY thread - which was posted by Maddison - hope he does not mind - but is this news also relevant to this share. Will the demand for more nuclear power stations not fuel the demand for more Uranium?? - or am I barking up the wromg tree.

"From the FT yesterday: see first and tenth paragraphs about LNG (how do you highlight paragraphs here, I have never understood that?).

Bush to support expansion of nuclear energy
By Andrew Ward in Washington
Published: April 27 2005 05:49 | Last updated: April 27 2005 05:49

President George W. Bush will on Wednesday throw his support behind a worldwide expansion of nuclear power and announce plans for a new generation of oil refineries and natural gas terminals in the US.

The proposals, which will be made in a speech in Washington, are designed to help ease the capacity constraints that have pushed energy prices to record highs this year. Mr Bush will call for Congress to work with the Department of Energy to reduce uncertainty surrounding regulatory approval for nuclear power plants, paving the way for the first expansion in nuclear power in the US for decades.

Senior White House officials said Mr Bush would also call for international co-operation to promote greater use of clean coal and nuclear power around the world to reduce stress on global energy markets.

In addition to increasing capacity, Mr Bush believes nuclear power can also be part of the solution to climate change because it does not produce the greenhouse gases blamed for global warming.

Mr Bushs speech on Wednesday represents a wish list of initiatives he would like to see incorporated into energy legislation currently making its way through Congress. The House of Representatives passed an energy bill last week and the Senate is expected to start work on its version in the next few weeks before the two houses seek to agree the final legislation for Mr Bushs signature.

Energy has become a hot political issue in the US as fuel prices have surged and the country has become increasingly dependent on foreign oil and gas.

Officials said Mr Bush would set out his vision for tackling the root causes of todays high price environment through increased domestic energy production and processing, and use of technology to develop renewable energy sources and promote energy efficiency.

In the most novel proposal contained in Mr Bushs speech, officials said he would call for the construction of new oil refineries on former military bases, creating new jobs in communities hit by base closures while also easing the countrys acute shortage of refining capacity.

No new oil refineries have been built in the US since 1976 and existing facilities are struggling to cope with demand.

Officials said Mr Bush would also call on Congress to remove barriers to new liquefied natural gas terminals by giving federal authorities the power to override opposition to the facilities from states. The US needs more than the existing four terminals to handle surging imports of LNG.

Mr Bush was also expected to call for Congress to extend tax benefits for fuel-efficient cars to include clean diesel vehicles, in addition to the hybrid and fuel-cell vehicles which are already included. The incentive would be worth $2.5bn over 10 years, according to White House officials.

The combination of tax breaks for green cars with expansion of nuclear power and traditional fossil fuel supplies shows how Mr Bush is seeking to strike a balance between competing calls for increased energy capacity and energy conservation.

However, environmentalists are likely to argue the balance is too heavily in favour of the energy industry, which has close ties to Mr Bush and the Republican Party. Critics are particularly wary of Mr Bushs promotion of so-called clean coal technology, which still emits large amounts of greenhouse gases.ENDS

Looks like a lot of oil companies down today anyone know if the oil price has dropped,?.

cheers GF.

Ps, the more I read about this oil company the more I get excited by it. Its a true investors dream, and hardly touched by the masses, NICE. Hoping to get it on the board this afternoon but if oil price is going down I might wait and see for a few days.

gavdfc - 28 Apr 2005 14:22 - 503 of 2220

Goldfinger,

June crude trading at 50.85, down 0.76. Build in yesterday's US inventories was above expectations hence the drop yesterday.

Cheers
