THE TALK TO YOURSELF THREAD. (NOWT)

goldfinger - 09 Jun 2005 12:25

Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).

Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.

cheers GF.

I don't think the British would welcome a coloured prime minister for another couple of decades. It's not like the US where a much higher percentage of the population is non-white, and look at the struggle Barry The Kenyan faced to get into the Oval Office. And let's face it, a high percentage of Brits are pretty racist as demonstrated by the support UKIP is getting.

So, it's not just too early for Umuna imo, it's too early for Britain as a whole.

MaxK - 07 Nov 2014 10:02 - 49528 of 81564

What have the objectives of ukip got to do with racism?

cynic - 07 Nov 2014 10:05 - 49529 of 81564

hils - hard to argue against, and yes, we all know how intrinsically racist the brits are ..... for example, racist chanting is apparently endemic at football matches

hilary - 07 Nov 2014 10:08 - 49530 of 81564

Errrr..... summat to do with the fact that every normal person has been saying they're a bunch of racists for the last month of Sundays!

cynic - 07 Nov 2014 10:09 - 49531 of 81564

but those at rugby matches are deaf to same?

MaxK - 07 Nov 2014 10:11 - 49532 of 81564

Rubbish Hilary...what are you drinking/smoking?

hilary - 07 Nov 2014 10:13 - 49533 of 81564

Cyners,

There's a degree of antisemitism directed towards Spurs, but it's not particularly racist in the UK. It is in mainland Europe, however- Mario Balotelli took a lot of stick from his own fans in Italy.

aldwickk - 07 Nov 2014 10:14 - 49534 of 81564

Black's are racist to , they don't like Indian/paki's, Nigerians look down on West Indians , etc

aldwickk - 07 Nov 2014 10:15 - 49535 of 81564

Rubbish Hilary, regards UKIP

Haystack - 07 Nov 2014 10:20 - 49536 of 81564

Chuka Umunna is unlikely to be made leader at the moment as he is regarded as a Blairite and too far to the right for the activists in the party.

I do agree about many UKIP supoorters being closet racists and plenty of them well out of the closet.

aldwickk - 07 Nov 2014 10:26 - 49537 of 81564

And many Labour MP's are closet Torys by the life styles they lead in private

hilary - 07 Nov 2014 10:27 - 49538 of 81564

Of course UKIP members and supporters are a racist bunch. You've only got to look at their demographics to understand that - white British, predominantly male, mostly over 60, Daily Mail readers. And where does the moronic TANKER fit into that list exactly?

MaxK - 07 Nov 2014 10:29 - 49539 of 81564

What a skewed view of the world you have Hilly.

hilary - 07 Nov 2014 10:31 - 49540 of 81564

It's fact, Max. Smell the coffee!!!

"Ashcroft also asked how some of the things that might stop people voting UKIP. The statements that UKIP considers agreed with least were the statements that UKIP seem “quite old fashioned”, or “seem a bit racist” – hardly surprising given the elderly age profile of UKIP supporters, their support for things being as they used to be and opposition to immigration – such voters are highly unlikely to see being anti-immigration as racist or being a bit old fashioned as a bad thing. The most agreed with statements were tactical ones about voting UKIP letting a party they didn’t like win their local seat or form the government."

Haystack - 07 Nov 2014 10:32 - 49541 of 81564

UKIP has partly been successful as it has given racists a chance to be semirespectable and mainstream.

Haystack - 07 Nov 2014 10:33 - 49542 of 81564

http://metro.co.uk/2014/11/06/ebola-panic-on-nudist-beach-after-illegal-immigrants-turn-up-showing-signs-of-fever-4937645/

No… I said I have a boner! Nudist beach cleared in Ebola scare

MaxK - 07 Nov 2014 10:37 - 49543 of 81564

What has racism got to do with the desire to get out of the €U?

hilary - 07 Nov 2014 10:44 - 49544 of 81564

Well if you did a bit of research, you'd realise that the average geriatric UKIP supporter is actually anti non-EU immigration and simply wants to wind the clock back a decade or two, but that they're too stupid to realise that there's a difference between that and free movement of EU citizens. Surveys have shown that an EU referendum is not the sort of elixir amongst UKIP supporters that many consider it to be.

MaxK - 07 Nov 2014 10:50 - 49545 of 81564

ok hilly, have it your way.

goldfinger - 07 Nov 2014 10:51 - 49546 of 81564

Lot of arguing going off today spats all over the place, calm down, calm down. Calm down the lot of you.

Wouldnt get me arguing, far to refined for that.

Cynic I blame you.

Bank a little of your profits, Ive just shut 40 grand away. Make you feel a lot better.
