How to profit from Betting Exchanges (BEX)

How would you like to trade a market where you get large regular price swings every 10 minutes in the afternoon, seven days a week. A
market where all prices are set purely by supply and demand, few transaction costs, no middle men and you only pay commission if you win? Where you can freely act as a market maker and where you have direct market access and where you can create a spread for others to take?

Betfair has revolutionised the betting market and created an open platform for exchanging risk on sports events. This market is now viewed much more like a traditional financial risk market than an old fashioned betting market. Smart users have realised that there are huge opportunities on Betfair because they can buy and sell risk in much the same way they would in a normal financial market but without the burden of cost or the restricted access that is usually associated with traditional financial markets.

Harlosh - 02 Oct 2005 18:00 - 4996 of 10502

Hi Bak, I'll send you my address via the internal.

Harlosh - 02 Oct 2005 18:35 - 4997 of 10502

All green Real v Mallorca

Scripophilist - 02 Oct 2005 19:35 - 4998 of 10502

Chelsea priced at only 1.20 now to win the Premiership and its only the 2nd day of October. Can ever remember seeing in 20 years a price this early as short as that for the top flight league.

Another Barney Curley gamble - got picked up on the line but nice and profitable to trade :-)

Scripophilist - 03 Oct 2005 14:19 - 5002 of 10502

Funny race that at Brighton I thought.

the racing today is mainly banded and selling races - very poor quality and open to "manipulation"

Fundamentalist - 03 Oct 2005 14:29 - 5004 of 10502

you have to wonder how many people betting on betfair are actually watching ATR. The trainer of bahamian ballet has basically rubbished its chances yet they are backing it in on betfair - have laid at 5.3

Fundamentalist - 03 Oct 2005 14:30 - 5005 of 10502

Was gonna let it run but green at 6.0

Fundamentalist - 03 Oct 2005 14:31 - 5006 of 10502

Good to see the trainer knows nothing as it wins - glad i traded out now

Fundamentalist - 03 Oct 2005 14:33 - 5007 of 10502

just had a look at the rest of this afternoons cards - most races favs are 6+ - gonna get on with some painting!!!

Scripophilist - 03 Oct 2005 14:48 - 5008 of 10502

Yeah, the racing looks poor today.

You have a solution now for days like this, we just added a manual & automated dutching and bookmaking function to Bet Angel. This will arb or create a book for you. So if the trading is no good just arb or make a book instead.

Scripophilist - 03 Oct 2005 15:58 - 5009 of 10502

Version ten also now has fully automatic trading functions as well.

that would mean i never have an afternoon off and the the house never gets finished lol!!!

Scripophilist - 03 Oct 2005 16:47 - 5011 of 10502

Steve, Exactly what is a banded race? All I see today and large fields and low quality.

Fundamentalist - 03 Oct 2005 16:56 - 5012 of 10502

Spot on scrip

large fields with the worst available horses, based on a regional basis - ie the fields are all local runners

Scripophilist - 03 Oct 2005 17:48 - 5013 of 10502

Did OK, but a long way short of a good day. Managed to turn a profit on 15 out of 16 races in the end. I am out of the office again tomorrow but back on Wednesday so looking forward to a better card then.
