bosley - 26 May 2005 23:01 - 5000 of 27111

evening andy, it was me who asked. it might turn out to be something not worth mentioning but, for me , it's a concern. i will be watching. i've seen what these supermarkets do if they don't get their own way.

bosley - 26 May 2005 23:04 - 5001 of 27111

don't worry too much about the thread. normality will return. just keep doing what we've been doing and ignore the shit and irrelevance.

bosley - 26 May 2005 23:07 - 5002 of 27111

that last post was just to get the 5k post. i'm sad like that.............

SEADOG - 26 May 2005 23:15 - 5003 of 27111

What a lot of drivel and petiness has invaded this bb, why dont you all grow up and stick to sensible comment about the company, expressing your feeling for the COMPANY, SEO, its aspirations and its failings, instead of childish blurbs and denigration of each other. SD

EWRobson - 26 May 2005 23:31 - 5004 of 27111

bos. Congratulations on the 5000. Pity it wasn't 5000! Every man to his own, they say!

Like andysmith, came in to find 100 posts to read, mostly of little value. You asked a pertinent, rather than impertinent, question and no-one addressed it prefering to have their own slanging match. Surprised at pth bothering to join in. He should stick to organising golfing outings which he does very well!

The nub of the question was: why should ASDA suppliers do what ASDA recommends and annoy their other customers. Because ASDA will reduce the price they pay them. Given adequate time to convert, they will share the financial benefits with the financial supplier. So the supplier cuts his costs. But ASDA also cut what they pay him whether or not he converts! So, if he doesn't convert then he loses money! What if a supplier's machine packs for other customers as well as ASDA. andysmith will probably be able to answer that. But, if we limit the conversions to ASDA dedicated machines, that's enough to be going on with.

Last year's Shares post was done by Tim Freeborn now with Evolution and doing their analyses. Good chap though caught with his pants down over earthport and lost some of us a lot of dosh. Delighted to see John Marshall doing today's analysis. Best analyst around and has earned me a lot of money by following him (Ottakar's, Bloomsbury, Hamleys, ASOS). Specialises in retail sector so understands the critical role played by packaging.

See you tomorrow evening - can't cope with the thread now more than once a day!

You know I really appreciate each and every post that I've read every word of this evening - I've had a hell of a day at work with an enormous amount of stress and I literally had no idea how I was going to get to sleep. Thank you for solving the problem all you ranters and wingers.

zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz. . . . .

EW sorry, you yourself lost your money, even if you bought EOP on the opinion of TF. He gave an opinion, you did the action. I think, maybe in the long term, the first opinion TF gave suggesting a buy will turn out right, it would appear to be a based on feasible idea and could yet turn out very profitable. Also the recent board changes may do some good. Do you recall it was priced at 140p once (Glad I didn't buy at that price.) But you would have expected that 4.5 year after being floated it would be turning in some profit.

To the future!

bosley - 27 May 2005 07:18 - 5007 of 27111

Morning all

Eric, I'll stick to the Golf Challenge!! Unless of course someone makes wild claims or bashes the stock aka IIdiot, in which case I will have my say.

Bos, have you polished those clubs yet?

Driver, with a handle like that, your name should be top of the entrant list!!

morning all.....agree with you on that bos

EWRobson - 27 May 2005 09:18 - 5014 of 27111

What's that, a 27deg driver? Sounds like my 11-wood! bos, didn't think I would have to call 'chicken'! Fred: aggree responsibility for own decisions: otherwise I couldn't pat my own back over SEO! (quite a difficult manoevre, too). 27deg matches 27p sp. Need it to get somewhat warmer!

Hi all,

I have seen speculation here, that the suppliers might try and supply the other retailers with RF sealed packages, that is not going to happen, because Stanelco have signed a one year exclusive deal with ASDA, and Stanelco will have made the suppliers sign contracts, to agree not to supply anyone other than ASDA with RF sealed packages, until the exclusivity expires next May.

Also Stanelco are the only company who can supply and fit the RF heads, so they won't be doing that unless the products packaged on those lines, are only going to ASDA.

Oh dear, I'm getting level headed, best I lay down quick :))))

Cheers,
PM

Careful PM - I could not see anything controversial in your last post!

LOL

Interesting bit on Nanotechnology in Packaging, it sounds like it might be possible to optimise packaging, so that it guarantees 100% seal rate with RF, by 'tuning' the molecules using Nanotechnology.
