Southampton Leisure - according to the press, Football Club is a 50 million bid target. (SOO)

soul traders - 30 Apr 2007 08:38

Morning all!

Thought I'd spread the word, in case you haven't seen.

This RNS was issued by the club on Friday to confirm that SOO has received a bid approach:

Southampton Leisure - Stmnt re Potential Offer-Rep

RNS Number:6776V
Southampton Leisure Holdings PLC
27 April 2007

The announcement below replaces the one released under RNS number 6695V at 14.13
today. The only change to the original announcement is the inclusion of the text
under 'Dealing Disclosure Requirements'.

Southampton Leisure Holdings plc
('Company')

Statement re Potential Offer

The board notes the recent rise in the Company's share price and confirms that
it has received and is considering a preliminary approach which may or may not
lead to an offer being made for the Company.

The board's consideration is at an early stage and there is no guarantee that
any offer will be forthcoming.

Further announcements will be made in due course.

Press reports suggest the bid could be worth 50 million. Paul Allen, co-founder of Microsoft, has been rumoured to be the bidder, but this has been denied by his office. There is also a mystery bidder reported to be from the Middle East.

Please treat this news with the due amount of caution. I am only passing on the available information; whether you invest is entirely up to you.

Promotion to the Premiership is worth 60M alone in TV revenue (so I heard on Sky over the weekend).

nice if you can get it - but that will increase the asking price for the club if the takeover is to take place.
