Having sold their drilling fluids business they can now focus on exploiting their North Sea assets. In particular their 10% interest in the Athena field which is being brought to production in Q4 2011 by Ithaca Energy. LDH's share should be around 2000bopd.

Lochard Energy Group Plc (AIM: LHD, ASX: LHD) announces that, having received an approach, it is in discussions which may or may not lead to an offer being made for the entire issued and to be issued share capital of the Company.

The discussions are at a preliminary stage and there can be no certainty that an offer will be made for Lochard or as to the terms on which any offer would be made. Accordingly, shareholders are not presently required to take any action. The Company, which is being advised by finnCap Ltd, will make a further announcement if and when appropriate.

sp up 23% today on takeover bid news with Athena oil production starting before the end of 2011 possibly an attractive takeover target for the likes of Ithaca or even Parkmead.
