Atlantis has announced an agreement to acquire Bristol based Marine Current Turbines Limited from giant Siemens AG in an all share deal.

The acquisition of this world class British tidal turbine business consolidates two leading tidal technologies under the Atlantis umbrella, creates the largest portfolio of tidal current power projects in the United Kingdom and further establishes Atlantis as a global leader in tidal current power.

Atlantis has announced a small placing and issued a trading update.

The Group has raised £2.5m before expenses at a placing price of 42p per share to help fund project development activities across its tidal portfolio and to secure opportunities for portfolio growth. The placing price is at modest discount of approximately 6.7% to the closing mid-market share price of 45p on yesterday’s close, with the new shares representing approximately 6% of the issued share capital.

We appreciate it’s only a small raise but nevertheless we consider any fund raise on AIM in August to be a minor achievement in itself!
