News Headlines:    In the US the Dow rises but techs slip as investors show caution ahead of Fed decision.

Lloyds is considering selling its Brazilian operations to help pay for its high dividend policy.

Dixons: sales increased by 18% to 5.8 billion with Group like for like sales up 1% Profit increased by 1% to GBP297.9 million which is above analysts expectations of 295 milllion. They are paying a final dividend 5.145 pence an increase of 10%. Year-end gearing was 8% with net borrowings of GBP138 million. The Group continues to hold shares in Wanadoo SA with a market value at year-end of GBP359 million Continued expansion is expected to create 2,200 jobs this financial year including 1,000 in the UK, The CEO said that 2002/03 has proved to be a challenging one and the Competition Commission's inquiry into extended warranties has absorbed a great amount of management time. We remain confident in our strategy and in the Group's future growth prospects albeit with uncertainty over economic growth over the next year or two. Our balance sheet is strong with a low level of borrowing."

Persimmon says its results for the first half of 2003 will be at least 20 percent higher than the same period last year. The housebuilder, Britain's biggest by market value, said it had achieved good margin and profit growth in the first half, against a steady housing market.

Stagecoach Group has beaten forecasts with a six percent rise in annual profit, driven by its core UK bus and rail businesses, and says it has made a good start to its new fiscal year. Despite its loss-making U.S. bus operation its profits rose to 113 million pounds in the year against Analyst forecasts of between 100-110 million.
