Inditherm - was the drop overdone? (IDM)

Scottie - 20 Nov 2003 18:00

Surely the drop of 33.5p today was excessive? A good buying opportunity, or not?

shareshark - 21 Jun 2005 10:14 - 5 of 22

If the rumours are true, and IMO they are, the market will view it as a strong endorsement of the product that will make potential customers and potential partners sit up and take notice - this should see the share get re-rated accordingly.

One big concrete deal and we will be really cooking with gas with the market cap so low.

Firm is opening up new markets

Major markets in the US and China are opening up for Inditherm, the Rotherham company behind a revolutionary carbon polymer heating technology.

Goldthorpe-based Inditherm's invention can be used for everything from under pitch heating for football stadia to speeding construction by cutting the time it takes concrete to set solid.

Now, the firm has won crucial approval from the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA), allowing it to market patient warming systems, based on the same technology for use in operating theatres, recovery rooms, intensive care wards and emergency departments.

And, it has secured a patent in China which will enable the company to enter Far Eastern markets without the fear of its invention being pirated.

Nick Bettles, Inditherm's medical division director, said, "Although the approval process has taken some time to complete we are delighted that we can now move forward our plans for the US market. We already have a number of potential distribution partners lined up, and therefore can start active promotion quickly.

Given the importance of FDA recognition - not just in terms of US legislation, but also as reassurance to potential purchasers worldwide - we expect this new status to accelerate the growth of Inditherm's medical business."

Chief executive Richard Harpum added: "FDA approval unlocks an important revenue opportunity for our medical business in the US market; whilst the new patent both confirms and protects the innovative nature of our core technology in China."

Inditherm is currently making a further application to the FDA for approval for products based on its technology for use in neonatal wards.
Inditherm's technology uses a carbon-based, electrically conductive polymer, to create a cost-effective, flexible and adaptable heating surface that can produce temperatures of up to 120C over its entire surface, from voltages of between 6 and 48 volts.

The company's latest success comes a month after it won national acclaim, along with Sheffield Hallam University and civil engineering graduate David Catley, who played a key role in developing Inditherm's polymer for use in the construction industry.
