Bonfield, I closed an account with Etrade about 2 years ago because I didn't like there trading platform, but thats not to say I think that they are crooks or anything like that. Expect there are plenty of people on here quite happy with them, I wasn't using a cfd a/c (It was straight B/S shares a\c) so can't advice on that I'm afraid.
Sarkee, I know what you mean about the small print, but found that If you keep coming back and read the details It does start to make sense.

I recently started using a dma platform that offers what I believe to be the best rates in the market for active traders-drop me a line if you want further details

lwh - they all offer the same rates - however, some are a little more forthright in their rate negotiations. Make your decision on features and support - price will follow.

longwayhome I hope you don't mind me posting this but "4-9bps depending on volume with no minimum ticket" seems pretty competative to me!

yes,it is a good deal but I must stress that it is only really suitable for active, experienced traders who can notch up a fair volume on a consistent basis

Hi longwayhome,
I am interested to find out the rates you are paying to compare with what I am paying at etrade. I am also not that keen on the trading platform I have I find it a bit slow plus I am charged a minimum ticket of 10 which I dont like, makes it uneconomical to scale in gradually on a illiquid stocks.
I will email you.
Many thanks.

I had a look at the Idealing platform about 3 months ago and I thought it was awful very slow and it had no level 2 based tickets. its browser based rather than a VPN dedicated program so that slows down the order routing a bit.
The Deal they offered me was a Joke they said if I paid them my commission for the trades I would be doing up front for example 10000 they would give me 7 basis points which is not very impressive, I thought why should they have my money up front. You dont need to do that with other DMA providers.
Etrade is not too bad, but I want to find the most professional and quickest platform to trade with, while the commission rates need to be competitive I beleive the trading platform is critical to be successfull at daytrading or scalping. Its no use having a good rate of commisson if the platform dosent enable you to get in and out quickly to capture the best prices possible. IMHO

Thanks UK,
Give them money "before" you trade, doesn't sound to clever that does It?

What a farce UKTRADER. I've been offered rebates before which is still a bit shifty, but paying cash up front is a joke.
7bps isnt exactly too hot either

Lonwayhome Thanks for putting me in touch with your people they were very helpful. I received the Demo disc for Trading screen the trading platform today. I must say I am very impressed with it so many nice features. I was also amazed when they told me the intraday margin can be as low as 2% on stocks, could be useful when I want to hit something hard on a profit warning he he he.
Regards UK
oh by the way MPH and Stan who are you guys with at the moment are you both using DMA?

Not used DMA UKT, just looked at this offer from iDealing and wondered If It would benefit my straight foreward share dealing.
I'm not Interested In CFD's, Spread Betting or using debt to fund my dealing, but thought It may give me some advantage as follows:
1. Being able to deal online using bigger size share amounts.
2. Being able to deal before 8am.
3. Being able to set my buy and sell order.
4. Want to know about the overall costs.
Thats some of the questions that I would like answers to....and also as I said above pros and cons that users have found.
