suncare (PSP)

hangon - 20 Feb 2006 15:53

DYOR - This co provides kits for checking exposure to UV (sunlight) which is particularly important for British children visiting sunny Spain etc etc.

They have been a poor investment right back in the days when they sold advertising space on aircraft chairs ((Transad))......until Management gets to grips with generating good news the sp is likely to suffer.......however, the reason for moving to AIM wasn't exactly crystal-clear but presumsbly there is some prospect of New products......but the sp tells it like it is, IMHO. I have a tiddly holding, hardly worth the stamp to cash it in.

Perhaps Sexual Health on Plus should buy them out!?

Maybe silvermede, although they have their own problems it seems - deals with the NHS are not exactly swinging and to that extent I guess you're suggesting they are made for each other. Of the two SHG is probably the better business - but what do I know, a small investment in PSP (Ofex then) was a disaster and I think I cleared out most of them.
Frankly these test-kits need to be a lot cheaper and should be sold via post in plain wrappers. . . . ads in Time_Out would do wonders, along with London's "Metro" newspaper which attracts maybe three readers per copy. (ie it's gets passed-on a bit like . . . . oh don't get me going!).
Both of these Companies appear to like to do deals and with "deals" you have to share the profit. There are several of these lo-flow businesses on the Market and without a decent sales director they will struggle until the finally croak.
Er, IMHO.
I don't hold SHG, but might one day . . . I note that SHGP has fallen (in rough steps) from 16p to abt. 4p now in c.18 months=OUCH! - which is nearly 1p* below the Sept07 placing....Grr for those that shelled-out, eh? That graph looks a tad careless as I doubt the Directors have seen their fees drop by the same factor . . . .although . . . no, it won't happen.

*the wide spread actually makes the Buy price 5.25pence plus charges etc.

OH DEAR, an acquisition
- - - - basically a web-name trading at a loss. - Yikes....
It's really the same as their current business, except its name precludes anyone that doesn't want to admit to being 50. ( so that's nearly everyone!)

"So what do you get if a really stupid business buys another stupid business?"
Ans:- let me suggest some possibilities, see if you spot the right answer:-

1) A bity so -so- business just thriving on the best bits.
2) a so-so business with the lossy-bits fast overtaking
3) Nothing at all...both business continue as though nothing happened
4) total failure.
5) Success, with shareholders and Execs in-tune with profits.
