cynic - 20 Oct 2009 09:37 - 501 of 3666

even this old fart agrees with that ...... AFR arguably has many more legs than this month's other fave GKP - which incidentally is the odd copper up yet again today after a lower start

Balerboy - 20 Oct 2009 09:40 - 502 of 3666

Funny how I agree with all you say cynic!! :)

cynic - 20 Oct 2009 09:49 - 503 of 3666

that's because you're my alter ego

HARRYCAT - 20 Oct 2009 10:10 - 504 of 3666

All broker targets I have seen have been for fair value at 110p, so I would expect that to be a more difficult level to breach. Don't forget that AFR is probably due to move to the main market in Dec, attracting those investors who steer clear of the AIM stocks.

cynic - 20 Oct 2009 10:12 - 505 of 3666

110 may well be today's target, but is suspect there could be re-rating in due course, whenever that may be ..... it looks to me that AFR have made all the right political moves and connections and seemingly are sitting on a gold mine!

HARRYCAT - 20 Oct 2009 10:17 - 506 of 3666

Liquid gold, rather than the mineral variety!

cynic - 20 Oct 2009 10:41 - 507 of 3666

surely not! ..... don't spoil it for me .... there are many on here who are convinced that i have no idea at all what ANY of the companies do

Balerboy - 20 Oct 2009 16:24 - 511 of 3666

hands up if you think ellio is a bigger tease....... :))

cobras - 20 Oct 2009 16:38 - 512 of 3666

In terms of pure exploration the 648 million market cap
is also planning to drill wells in Congo, Nigeria, Ce
dIvoire and Ghana over the next year-and-a-half which
could, according to broker Evolution Securities, yield as
much 550 million barrels of oil or equivalent. The Keta
block in Ghana which is around 100 miles east of Tullow
Oils (TLW) massive Jubilee discovery and located on the
same geological trend contains a number of particularly
high-impact targets and the company hopes to drill a well
here before the end of next year.
In addition the group looks set to benefit from its involvement
in the indigenous Nigerian company First
Hydrocarbon Nigeria a direct response to the
Governments aim of increasing the level of local participation
in the oil industry. Afren has a 40% stake in the entity,
with the other 60% in the hands of Nigerian financial institutions,
and will be seeking to acquire substantial oil and
gas assets in the country. The first transaction conducted by
this vehicle could prompt a re-rating.
