TMC...One of the miners that hasnt bounced yet (TMC)

siwel2 - 17 Feb 2006 10:17

Interesting little company. Did a series of asset swops to leave them with half of the 4th largest Nickel deposit in the world.
The deposit itself is in the Philippines has been known about for 30 years but due to low prices and lack of demand in the Far East it was never exploited. With the explosion in demand from India and China the nickel price has climbed from $2 to $6.50 but oddly enough is still considered low.
The final approval stage for exploitation is just about to be approved and extraction will begin. The company already has one contract with a Japanese smelter and is in discussions with smelters in a series of countries.
Nothing clever about the operation, as the ore is of sufficiently high grade, they dig it up and ship it out. Infrastrucure is already in place for operation.
TMC is currently priced at 18m, the initial Japanese contract is worth 4m and each additional contract will hopefully be at this level or greater.
Final approval turns the company into a producer and each additional contract simply increases their size.
The management is tight with cash and has some good quality mining skills onboard.
The Philippine government is fast tracking the final approval and the company says it expects it shortly.
One to hold for approval and through the series of RNS's as more contracts are won. Company should be worth 50m in 6 months and 100m in 12-18 months.
Buy it, ignore it, just pointing this one out.

to be truthful, i don't much care for DP ...... my personal fave is Roederer Cristal which i think has more more finesse and subtlety (just like me!).

as for investing even more in TMC, tempting though that is as a knee-jerk reaction, i bought about 80% of my "norm" because i felt that was right at the time ...... as that was only 2 days ago, that view has not changed notwithstanding that there is arguably still a lot of money to be made here ...... put another way, the value of my stake is now about 125% of norm which is enough exposure for the moment.

oilyrag - 06 Jun 2007 09:01 - 504 of 879

One last observation before I go, it would appear that mm's are triggering stop losses to get stock. If this is the case its going to be a see saw day.

cynic - 06 Jun 2007 09:40 - 505 of 879

Ciao ..... just shows what you (don't) know ...... DP sales strength is on the back of strong PR (Bond films etc) and the continuous coverage that Moet gets ...... Roederer is actually significantly more expensive and (imo) a great deal better than DP which I actually find generally rather acidic

I'm a laurent perrier fan---so how about we all have a champagne party somewhere central when we reach say 20!! Top of my invites would be the two who write Lemming investor- this is just one of many fantastic results for me---all due to them and their hard work on research. plus Oily of course.
what a lovely day down here in devon!

cynic - 06 Jun 2007 10:22 - 507 of 879

m+ ... i can live with that too, especially their rose ..... as a relatively everyday champagne (we drink it quite regularly) i am a fan of Billecart Salmon, but have also found some tiny houses making more than acceptable stuff, especially if it is cellared for a further 6/12 months.

Depending on where you are in Devon, environs Bath looks quite equidistant for you and oily and myself ...... if you want a really good meal + seriously good and interesting wine list, highly commend The Harrow at Little Bedwyn a little west of Hungerford.

Cynic :))
I was in the trade :)) i could tell (no post) you quite few thing about DP...

Moneyplus what a goog idea.. how about Monte Carlo ;))

cynic - 06 Jun 2007 10:35 - 509 of 879

you must have worked for Moet then! ..... for my sins, i owned (which i still do) and ran (which i no longer do) a small brasserie in London, so i am not entirely without background either

moneyplus - 06 Jun 2007 11:05 - 510 of 879

Just a suggestion but you may like to look at RGM today another lemming favourite--I've switched some profits into this as the next possible TMC--very exciting !!

oilyrag - 06 Jun 2007 15:06 - 511 of 879

I have created a party celebration thread for anyone who is interested, this will help to sort business from pleasure. All suggestions welcome.

halifax - 06 Jun 2007 15:25 - 512 of 879

OILY re your post 486 I totally agree Berong having obtained a full mining licence and hopefully producing a favourable JORC report shortly then TMC with a current market capitalisation of still only 150 million must be a sitting target for one of the big mining houses. Also interesting that TMC are converting their US$2.75 loan to Atlas into ordinary shares thus indirectly increasing their interest in Berong.

Even at 20 per share TMC would only be valued at 600 million.

cynic - 06 Jun 2007 16:21 - 513 of 879

what a shining beacon TMC has been today in that sea of red ...... oh dear! is it now only +44 after +74? ...... not exactly a tragedy is it

oilyrag - 07 Jun 2007 08:21 - 514 of 879

Quiet start for a change.

oilyrag - 07 Jun 2007 08:30 - 515 of 879

Tree shake comes to mind.

Another 2 mpsa's due in 2 months. Once the market catches on to this, onwards and upwards we go!

Philippines' Berong nickel exports 350,000 metric tonnes year-to-date
06.07.07, 6:07 AM ET

MANILA (XFN-ASIA) - Berong Nickel Corp's exports of wet nickel laterite since the start of the year have reached 350,000 metric tonnes, a company executive said.
'We have made seven trial shipments averaging 50,000 metric tonnes since the start of the year,' Ramon Antonio Flores, resource development manager of Berong Nickel, told reporters. He did not disclose the total value of the shipments.
'By the end of the year, we expect to have shipped out a total of 1 mln tonnes,' he said.
Berong Nickel is the joint venture unit of Atlas Consolidated Mining and Development Corp (other-otc: ACMBB.PK - news - people ), London-based Toledo Mining Corp and Investika Ltd of Australia.
'There is a strong demand for nickel for stainless steel products, that's why we have increased our shipments, and we expect prices to hold up over the next couple of years,' Flores said.
He said Berong is currently being wooed by at least four different groups in China for the supply of nickel laterite. But he gave no further details.

He added meanwhile that two other affiliates of Berong Nickel -- Iplan Nickel Corp and Ulugan Nickel Corp -- are expecting to secure 25-year mining contracts from the government in the next two months covering sites in Palawan in the western Philippines.

oilyrag - 08 Jun 2007 07:13 - 517 of 879

End June next trading statement is due, probably another 3 shipments by then, could be half way to 1mtpa.

End July MPSA's for Ipilan and Ulugan due, hopefully if rumours about Ipilan are true, we may see an increase in acreage.

JORC report ready, just not released yet. Are they waiting to marry this news up with something else.

Also off thread but relevant to TMC. Billitung is due to be floated very soon after, during thrid quarter 2007. The relevance here to my mind is that it is owned by Investika and Toledo's management and they obviously would find it difficult to float another company at such a critical stage in finalising contracts for TMC. I believe that they know already that everything will be in place by the time they float Billitung, which by the way should be about 60p and is rumoured to be bigger than TMC.

Early August could be when the sh.t hits the fan literally, because my first grandchild is due then. Oh my god, and TMC should be on its way, big time.

Finally there is rumour of a 5 to 1 split, because of the difficulties in trading this stock.

expert - 08 Jun 2007 07:57 - 518 of 879

The 5 to 1 split is when we near towards triple figures as investors would psychologically be to scared to buy a stock over 100 pounds.

oilyrag - 08 Jun 2007 08:12 - 519 of 879

I have topped up, only 130 shares at 447p as I'm fully committed elsewhere.
