What a lot of drivel and petiness has invaded this bb, why dont you all grow up and stick to sensible comment about the company, expressing your feeling for the COMPANY, SEO, its aspirations and its failings, instead of childish blurbs and denigration of each other. SD

bos. Congratulations on the 5000. Pity it wasn't 5000! Every man to his own, they say!
Like andysmith, came in to find 100 posts to read, mostly of little value. You asked a pertinent, rather than impertinent, question and no-one addressed it prefering to have their own slanging match. Surprised at pth bothering to join in. He should stick to organising golfing outings which he does very well!
The nub of the question was: why should ASDA suppliers do what ASDA recommends and annoy their other customers. Because ASDA will reduce the price they pay them. Given adequate time to convert, they will share the financial benefits with the financial supplier. So the supplier cuts his costs. But ASDA also cut what they pay him whether or not he converts! So, if he doesn't convert then he loses money! What if a supplier's machine packs for other customers as well as ASDA. andysmith will probably be able to answer that. But, if we limit the conversions to ASDA dedicated machines, that's enough to be going on with.
Last year's Shares post was done by Tim Freeborn now with Evolution and doing their analyses. Good chap though caught with his pants down over earthport and lost some of us a lot of dosh. Delighted to see John Marshall doing today's analysis. Best analyst around and has earned me a lot of money by following him (Ottakar's, Bloomsbury, Hamleys, ASOS). Specialises in retail sector so understands the critical role played by packaging.
See you tomorrow evening - can't cope with the thread now more than once a day!

You know I really appreciate each and every post that I've read every word of this evening - I've had a hell of a day at work with an enormous amount of stress and I literally had no idea how I was going to get to sleep. Thank you for solving the problem all you ranters and wingers.

EW sorry, you yourself lost your money, even if you bought EOP on the opinion of TF. He gave an opinion, you did the action. I think, maybe in the long term, the first opinion TF gave suggesting a buy will turn out right, it would appear to be a based on feasible idea and could yet turn out very profitable. Also the recent board changes may do some good. Do you recall it was priced at 140p once (Glad I didn't buy at that price.) But you would have expected that 4.5 year after being floated it would be turning in some profit.
To the future!

Hi all,
I have seen speculation here, that the suppliers might try and supply the other retailers with RF sealed packages, that is not going to happen, because Stanelco have signed a one year exclusive deal with ASDA, and Stanelco will have made the suppliers sign contracts, to agree not to supply anyone other than ASDA with RF sealed packages, until the exclusivity expires next May.
Also Stanelco are the only company who can supply and fit the RF heads, so they won't be doing that unless the products packaged on those lines, are only going to ASDA.
Oh dear, I'm getting level headed, best I lay down quick :))))
Cheers,

Interesting bit on Nanotechnology in Packaging, it sounds like it might be possible to optimise packaging, so that it guarantees 100% seal rate with RF, by 'tuning' the molecules using Nanotechnology.

Dear Mr Robson,
in regards to your comment that John Marshall (cut-out below) is a top analyst; does this come from your extensive Shares mag reading, or is he also a highly reputable analyst from elsewhere ??

Stanelco GREENSEAL Packaging Technology Poised To Revolutionize Food Packaging Worldwide
5/17/2005
ORLANDO, FL - Grocers and retailers accustomed to selling meat, vegetables and other perishable foods in familiar thermal heat-sealed packaging can now turn to an entirely new packaging technology that employs radio frequency to create the tightest, most efficient seal available in packaging anywhere in the world.
GREENSEAL, a revolutionary new packaging application that uses radio frequency (RF) technology, is already capturing the attention of retailers and grocers in the United Kingdom and North America. Created by Stanelco PLC (LSE:SEO.L), GREENSEAL has the potential to revolutionize how consumable products are packaged and sold in markets worldwide.
We are thrilled at the quality and integrity of the RF weld on mono-plastics, explained Stanelco spokesperson and newly appointed Director of U.S. Operations Stephanie Morgan-Fisher.
The seal integrity possesses less than a one-tenth of one percent leakage factor. Its return-to-manufacturer (RTM) rate is also less than one-tenth of one percent annually, realizing a savings of millions of dollars for retailers, said Morgan-Fisher.
Applied to the case-ready food industry, the implications for GREENSEAL are enormous. The sealing application can totally redefine how grocers package and present food to shoppers, while reducing the amount of faulty packages significantly.
Stanelco has recently signed an exclusive agreement in the United Kingdom with ASDA, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Wal-Mart. This agreement will facilitate the retrofit of 200 ASDA supplier heat-sealing machines to Stanelcos GREENSEAL technology.
Recent trials with ASDAs seafood supplier Youngs Bluecrest exceeded expectations. Over a two-week trial period of the product packed and sold in the selected ASDA stores, sales grew by 21%. Stanelco has been informed by ASDA that this increase is as a direct result of a number of factors directly attributable to GREENSEAL technology. Key amongst these is a more attractive looking pack than the current product. In addition, there were no reported leaking packs, and waste at store level was reduced significantly.
To facilitate the retrofitting process in North America, Stanelco is working with Premier Technology, Pocatello, Idaho, whose engineers have trained in retrofit operations at Stanelcos new facility in Southampton, England. A team of Premier Technology engineers has already completed training and familiarization with the methodologies necessary to convert complex thermal heat-sealing packaging machinery to GREENSEAL RF sealing technology and are prepared to ramp up operations in the United States.
While vastly improved seal integrity is the top benefit offered by GREENSEAL, cost savings and environmental compatibility are two other important features that will attract grocers and retailers to GREENSEAL.
Pressured to increase revenues and profits, despite upwardly spiraling operating costs, retailers can reduce the cost of packaging materials by 20 percent using GREENSEAL. The application replaces laminated plastics with less expensive mono plastics, which can be easily recycled. Energy costs required to produce the tray lids and thermoformed packages can be reduced by nearly 70 percent annually by utilizing GREENSEAL.
Stanelco is already moving ahead to market GREENSEAL to leading U.S. grocers and retailers, including Wal-Mart, Albertsons, Midwestern retailing giant Krogers, California-based Vons, Ralphs and Safeway, and others. Stanelco has opened a North American office in Orlando, Fla., to coordinate international sales and implementation efforts for Stanelco.
Stanelco PLC, headquartered in Southampton, England, was founded in 1953. Stanelco is engaged in the commercialization of new applications, innovations, products and processes based on radio frequency (RF) technologies. More information: www.Stanelco.co.uk.
