The market seems to be selling-off on the back of limited bad news imo, apart from the dollar that is.
If you can hold your nerve and apart from any short term requirements to offload poor performing stocks, I have a couple!!, my advice would be sit tight. This does not have the feel of the tech(mining!) bubble at all. Difference being there are a lot of good fundamentals, unlike in 2000 when there were a lot of over rated nothing companies.

with a strong night on Wall Street, which i hope will be followed up in F/E there is a grave danger of us (me!) falling into the trap of thinking all in the garden is rosy once more ..... it ain't and forget it at your peril!

It wont stop you taking risks though! Most people in this game know the potential pitfalls unfortunately greed prevails and always will regardless of how volatile markets are!!

i know, but at least this BB allows me to keep reminding myself while pretending to remind others! ..... At least i have already put in place stop losses on both the Dow and gold positions i have left open, which are the ones that are vulnerable to overnight influence from F/E

Mmmm. Pretty good bounce. Thursday and Friday could be interesting.
Like Cynic I'd probably be tempted to buy, whilst telling myself it was a bad idea. This time though I've taken away the temptation by withdrawing most of the funds from my sharedealing account. This has 2 advantages. Firstly it stops me going on a spending spree, and secondly it means I can get on with some real work, rather than watching share prices all day with an itchy mouse finger!
Hopefully for those brave enough to buy, it will be a profitable investment.

Looking the daily Dow, S&P & Nasdaq charts (via stockcharts.com), yesterday's sharp rise was only on average daily volume, and below that of the last few days. I will remain on the sidelines until there is a similar rise on above average volume.
Friday's US economic data could be the catalyst to swing the market one way or the other.

although still majority in the market i have trimmed down some holdings and would actually like to see another dip now, perhaps to give an even better buying op, although i'm sure if it were a big drop, people will start to claim its the start of a bear cycle... difficult to call the next move, but am inclined to agree with my friend, the cynic, we are not out of the woods yet...
