THE TALK TO YOURSELF THREAD. (NOWT)

goldfinger - 09 Jun 2005 12:25

Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).

Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.

cheers GF.

I agree that the film investment vehicle is probably legitimate. The company has been funding films for years. There are a number of similar firms. There are also several companies doing something similar with trees as an investment method and tax shelter.

Fred hasn't paid his poll tax that's why he moved to England

goldfinger - 18 Nov 2014 18:35 - 50672 of 81564

Cynic for all your bluster you are still no wiser than I or anyone for that matter and if you have insider knowledge Id advise you to keep schtum.

cynic - 18 Nov 2014 18:36 - 50673 of 81564

GF - let's try again ..... have you foresaken all your tax avoidance allowances, including writing a will and/or leaving your estate to your wife other than the minimum that the law may demand (not allows)?

cynic - 18 Nov 2014 18:38 - 50674 of 81564

Ingenious
i do not have inside information, but i do have a reasonable circle of legals who actually know their stuff

and hays (for once!) is absolutely spot-on with post 50673

I agree that the film investment vehicle is probably legitimate. The company has been funding films for years. There are a number of similar firms. There are also several companies doing something similar with trees as an investment method and tax shelter.................................ends

Robert Maxwell was doing business for years...........it means nothing.

Look what happened to him.

cynic - 18 Nov 2014 18:41 - 50676 of 81564

oh dear .... hardly a parallel ... indeed, not even remotely so

hilary - 18 Nov 2014 18:41 - 50677 of 81564

He fell off a boat. Do you think it might have been the taxman who pushed him?

goldfinger - 18 Nov 2014 18:46 - 50678 of 81564

Cynic I have already spelt out what will happen on my death with my personal fortune,

this must be about the 5th time you have asked me.

You can be sure I will be working within the law of the land on any tax issue and not wishing to dump responsibility on other people for taxation.

Sorry I dont have that selfish trait.

ps, I will be paying HMRC for the Mansion Tax and as a British Citizen will be proud to do so. I realise not like a lot of others just how lucky I am to be in this privileged position.

goldfinger - 18 Nov 2014 18:49 - 50679 of 81564

He was forced into falling off that boat. HMCR were just ONE agency forming a que to nab him, after Simon Cawkwell aka Evil K had exposed his accounts and tax returns to the Times newspaper.

cynic - 18 Nov 2014 18:51 - 50680 of 81564

working within the law of the land ...... which is exactly what tax avoidance does!

sorry old chap, but you're trying to write your own script as suits while denigrating others who work within precisely that same rule book

and on that happy note, i shall go out for dinner with Beloved as it's our 35th anniversary :-)

hilary - 18 Nov 2014 18:51 - 50681 of 81564

Lol, you won't be paying any Mansion Tax because the muppet with a dog called Gromit hasn't got a prayer of ever being PM.

goldfinger - 18 Nov 2014 18:53 - 50682 of 81564

"working within the law of the land ...... which is exactly what tax avoidance does!"

sorry Old Bean NO aggressive Tax Avoidance DOES NOT.

goldfinger - 18 Nov 2014 18:54 - 50683 of 81564

hilary my dear never say never.

6 Tory defectors will screw Devious Dave next week.

goldfinger - 18 Nov 2014 18:55 - 50684 of 81564

Right Im off to cook my sausage and mash before the footie, TALLY HO everyone.

hilary - 18 Nov 2014 19:01 - 50685 of 81564

Presumable, sausage and mash is a northern thing? Served with side of barberry, confit kombu and crab biscuit, no doubt.

Haystack - 18 Nov 2014 19:05 - 50686 of 81564

Northern baiting is a very popular spectator sport down here in the south. The only drawback is that it is too easy. It is not often that there is any decent opposition. The final result is usually a walkover.

Chris Carson - 18 Nov 2014 19:15 - 50687 of 81564

Now hey, no objection to you taking the pxxx out of Sir Goldfinger but don't tar everyone north of Watford with the same brush pleeeeze!!

Fred1new - 18 Nov 2014 19:16 - 50688 of 81564

Manue;
fred - oh hahaha! ...... in your dreams in your utopian water bed .....
as i wrote previously, generations of previous gov'ts have done no more than tinker at the edges, usually for political gain, and every 5 years

It has been said over the years about tax reforms.

Check back to 1900.

-======

In 1945, the tories said no to changes in the Welfare System, the setting up of th NHS. the changes in Education system and the necessary or society needed nationalisation of worn out Private Industries.

In a democracy a bloodless change you need the majority of the voters to create that change.

Better slowly and addressing mistakes at the same time.

One thing which would aid it is the muzzling of a "bought" press. I doubt possible or acceptable.

Hairy One,

The tax man commeth!

Hope you have your knickers on.

ROCHESTER, ROCHESTER, ROCHESTER.

I wonder if David Davies is going to put his hat in the ring!!!

Would consider voting for him!

Haystack - 18 Nov 2014 19:19 - 50689 of 81564

Where is Watford? I operate on a north of Hendon or North Circular basis.

edit

Apparently Watford is 'up north'.
