Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).
Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.
cheers GF.

cynic ever estate agent knows the value of ever home to within a few thousand that would be good enough and c/t at 0.5% is fair on ever home. and will vote for that

MrT - you'ld clearly be amazed then ..... one-off houses - eg typically the ones to be targetted by this potential "mansion tax" - are incredibly difficult to value
this was highlighted when we sold my parents' house a few years back, where the difference in "value" placed on it by local and reputable estate agents varied by about 30%
as is so often the case, the price achieved was actually "what someone would pay" which, because of the state of the market at the time, was only slightly above the lowest valuation

two things have entertained me o'night, both publishable! ......
labour suddenly announce that they won't allow new immigrants to claim unemployment benefit until they have been in the country for 2 years
juncker is now being pressed to resign his presidency of eu for his involvement in rubber-stamping domicile for dubious companies in luxemburg when he was pm .... of course that will never be pressed home

cynic fact 95% of homes are easy to value the other 5% the local estate agent will have a rough idea . if the home owners can not afford the 0.5% then do not buy
0.5% is a great idea and would only affect the avge home by around £ 120 a year

slightly x'ed wires ..... we were talking about "mansion tax"originally
your idea is parson's egg = good in parts
if you don't band houses, then the authorities will be absolutely swamped with valuation appeals

Scots find Miliband less credible than Nessie!
Just 2% say they completely trust Labour leader (but 24% believe in the Loch Ness Monster)
Only two per cent of Scots say they completely trust Labour's Ed Miliband
Separate poll found 24 per cent professed belief in the Loch Ness monster
Survey suggests Labour are set to lose all but 5 of 40 MP's in stronghold

Labour's chances of regaining power are under serious threat from looming ‘annihilation’ by the SNP in Scotland and an unprecedented surge by the Greens in the rest of the country, polls suggested yesterday.
A Survation survey suggested Labour are set to lose all but five of their 40 MPs in their traditional Scottish stronghold in May’s general election.
It also showed that just two per cent of Scots say they completely trust Ed Miliband – far less than the 24 per cent who professed belief in the Loch Ness monster in a separate poll conducted in 2012.

typically of so many here, you don't answer the question asked ...... in this instance of how on earth do you think you're going to value with good accuracy every single house in the country and scrap banding altogether? ...... i think that is what you are suggesting

its simple all local estate agents no the value . that is how the gov formed the bands
fact . and less than 0.01 objected to their band .
I also think that the gov should give the public a vote on raising income tax for the nhs I also think the nation lottery should be voted on by the public for 50% of profits go to nhs care
only mean nasty greedy people would vote no
lets put it to the voters to vote on all these issues and let the voters decide
