Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).
Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.
cheers GF.

if you're going to stay with banding, then you obviously eliminate most appeals
however, did you not advocate abandoning banding altogether?
i may well be wrong, but i think it is local councils who value the properties in their area and the revenue from "council tax" goes to that council, rather as it says on the tin ...... thus absolute value-accuracy is not quite as important
if you're going to value houses and the money is then going to go to the exchequer, then you open up a complete can of worms and a total shambles will ensue
your crap about income tax is not even worthy of response

TANKER makes some good points on local estate agents and bands for the mansion tax.
Its the valuation officers who do it now at the LA.

whatever you say, but then 95% of what you spout is total tripe anyway, and this is another such occasion, and as abusive as usual
if you're now happy that banding should stay in place - a change of stance, but we're all allowed that - then fine
as it stands, i have no idea in % terms what our council charges and i suspect it will vary considerably from area to area depending on a great many factors
however, if you want to move away from a local tax, to one where the money goes to the central exchequer - for what purpose this change? - then it becomes a very different exercise

Income tax was imposed as a temporary measure to pay for a war. No one likes paying tax unless they are mad. If I could pay less or no tax I would. Tax companies and let incomes be tax free. I would prefer a return to the poll tax, which was the fairest. It was based on working age people in the household. The more people, the more services they use.

Nigel Farage has gleefully branded David Cameron "desperate", after the prime minister took the unusual step of asking Labour and Lib Dem supporters to vote tactically for the Conservatives in the Rochester by-election to prevent Ukip from winning.
cynic I pay my taxes and happy to do so and very happy to vote yes to put up taxes

Never been so many people in work, or so the government would have you believe.
So, why do they need to keep borrowing money if everything is hunky dory?
