Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).

So, why do they need to keep borrowing money if everything is hunky dory?

I think people keep borrowing money because they keep spending more than they should! Basic housekeeping and balancing of finances says don't spend more than you earn - and it's far too easy to get into debt with credit cards etc.

a) because advertising and credit and store cards encourage people to overspend

b) we live in an age where everyone wants to have the latest mobile phone and the biggest tv etc, and immediately

c) few people now know how to cook properly, so they'll but ready meals and packets of biscuits etc rather than make casseroles from cheaper cuts of meat, make their own biscuits etc

c) just because one is in work, it does not mean as a matter of fact that you have enough to live on even "sensibly", which is why a lot of people need second jobs or top-up from benefits (i assume that's allowed)

And whats the governments excuse for borrowing ever more money?

Let's everyone put everything they have into the pot and then have an equal share out.

That will level the playing field and make it completely fair for everyone.

Big problem with that, though.....

Come Tuesday or maybe Thursday afternoon, all those who have spent their money on their alcohol addiction and their gambling and drug addictions and pissed it up the wall buying ready meals and 'take-outs' will be skint.

So let's everyone put everything they have into the pot again and then have an equal share out.

Now some will have some left because they have been thrifty and won't even have chucked it away on unnecessary taxes, having taken full advantage of their tax allowances. And instead of going down the pub, they have done a bit of extra work and even earned a few quid more than the average.

Some will have spent some of their taxed income on doing up their house and making it worth a bit more too. Funny thing that! In life no one rarely gives you any assets, you always have to buy them for yourself with 'after tax income'.

"So what!" say some on here. "That doesn't matter a jot! We are still going to have a share out to 'make it equal'. And if some are going to be skint by Tuesday, then we had better make Share Out Day a Wednesday."

What an absolutely garbage idea, eh?

Airlines hit back at plan by Labour to charge tourists

Airlines have expressed concerned over Labour's proposal to charge tourists arriving from countries not needing a visa.


Shadow home secretary, Yvette Cooper has suggested tourists from the US and 55 other countries are charged £10 in order to fund 1,000 more border guards should Labour get into power.


Under the proposals, nationals in countries enjoying a 'visa waiver' system of fast-track permission to enter the UK will have to pay the fee per visit.


But Nathan Stower, chief executive of the British Air Transport Association (BATA), said airlines had significant concerns about the plan.


He said: "Visitors from countries like the USA and Australia already pay the highest air passenger tax in the world to fly to the UK - £71 from next April - contributing billions of pounds to the Treasury.


"Adding yet another charge will make the UK more uncompetitive in attracting tourists, businesses and inbound investment.


"It is not clear how this proposed charge would be collected. The vast majority of visitors from those countries that are not required to obtain a visa to enter the UK, such as the USA, do not currently provide information to UK authorities ahead of their visit.


"Furthermore, if more money were to be raised from airline passengers alone, it would only fair for this to fund improvements in the border at airports and not at other ports of entry such as Calais."

One of the many irritations I have with Cameron and Hunt is their boast of the employment of New Medical Staff in the NHS especially when referring to Doctors or Nurses.


What I would like to know is of all the "new workers" how many of the "new" are part timers or "agency contract" workers.

I won't go into the problems of "loyalty", but a part time doctors should be "earning" £70 plus per hours


Many seem happy with locum or part time work.

With certain reservation don't mind, but I think this falsifies the figures which Cameron spouts.

I thought of E-mailing Mili to question figure, but haven't!

A lot of the so called employment numbers are simply the reclassification of people from the public sector to the private sector. Of course Cameron would have you believe that they are people that are long term unemployed that are now in employment but sadly that isn't the case.
