Bin Ladin is dead

mitzy - 02 May 2011 07:52

President Obama says its great news for peace and democracy.

Dil - 05 May 2011 00:06 - 51 of 140

Fred , know where your coming from but I believe right or wrong that however he was killed and whatever the circumstances the world is now a better place without him.

aldwickk - 05 May 2011 08:05 - 52 of 140

But no safer. Thanks to Labour with their secret open door immigration policy the enemy's of our Western way of life are now living amongst us.

mitzy - 05 May 2011 10:12 - 53 of 140

He will not walk on this earth again.

aldwickk - 05 May 2011 10:19 - 54 of 140

But those walking behind him will

cynic - 05 May 2011 10:32 - 55 of 140

reality check needed here

fred - on the very reasonably assumption that BL is dead, do you think that his bodyguards would have allowed him to be taken alive? ...... do you think BL would have meekly held up his hands in surrender when politely requested to do so? ..... do you think that even in a drugged state (say) that BL could have been whisked away? ..... do you think that that would actually have been a "better" solution and that his follwers would merely have muttered, "oh dear! guess the game's up now"?

of course the removal of BL will not destroy al qaeda, and indeed for a while, the world may be a somewhat more dangerous place for obvious reasons ..... however, there can be no denying (except perhaps by fred) that the removal of BM and especially the capture of huge amounts of information of all kinds will weaken al qaeda substantially

what "we" do about that vipers-nest of pakistan is another matter - not play them cricket would be a good start!

greekman - 05 May 2011 13:20 - 56 of 140

My first visit to this thread.

As I have had Fred Squelched for any months, I have no idea nor no interest in what he says on any subject, but even before clicking onto the site, I would have bet that Fred would be one to cry over the death of Bin Laden.

This world would be a far better place if it got rid of many more such people as Bin Laden.

Just put them at the end of a gun sight and I would happily squeeze the trigger.

I can obviously tell by the many replies to Fred, just how his posts must read.
Bleeding hearts are as big a danger to this country as those they cry over.

Why the hell do posters reply to his 'intended winding up'.
Perhaps they feel sorry for this truly sad man!

The ArchBishop of Canterbury Rowan Arkinson condemns the killing of a man who refused to surrender.

cynic - 05 May 2011 13:32 - 58 of 140

he almost has an obligation to say that as leader of the anglican church

greekman - 05 May 2011 13:37 - 59 of 140

I suppose that the Archbishop would have welcomed him with open arms, kissed him on both cheeks and gave him absolution (is that what Archbishops do).
No doubt he would not have considered the chance of BL detonating an explosive device. Many such devices can be detonated remotely by the simple act of closing or opening a hand.
Another 'Bleeding Heart' from someone who has never been in a position of life and death where decisions have to be made in a split second.

greekman talks a lot of sense
if freddiefewbrains would have been around in the 1930s he would have been an appeaser to that nice poor misunderstood herr hitler
hay parrot would have been marching to the sound of The Tin Drum singing hitler's praises

Haystack - 05 May 2011 13:54 - 61 of 140

Who really cares what the ArchBishop of Canterbury has to say on any subject. He is just the leader of one of groups of believers in fairies and extra-terrestial beings. He is about as relevant as adults that believe in Father Christmas. It is about time we had a secular society and stopped giving any weight or importance to utterances from delusionals.

In The Land of the B - 05 May 2011 14:07 - 62 of 140

OMG parrot !
You've posted something I totally agree with !
And it's not a copy and paste job !

Bernard M - 05 May 2011 14:58 - 63 of 140

He should stick to blowing choir boys.

greekman - 05 May 2011 15:45 - 64 of 140

Haystack,

Never thought one of your posts would ever offend me but, No father Christmas!
Who brings my presents then.
You will be telling me next that the Tooth fairy and Easter Bunny don't exist.

On a serious note, all Christian leaders can promise is that true believers go to heaven, play harps and sit about on clouds all day looking down on beautiful gardens.

Islam on the other hand promises true believers paradise where 72 beautiful virgins eagerly await your arrival.

Now let me think, who has the best sales pitch?

Now lets see, harps, clouds and flowers v 72 virgins.

No wonder Christianity is loosing to Islam.

Now where did I put my prayer mat!

Haystack - 05 May 2011 17:09 - 65 of 140

There is nothing in the Koran offering 72 virgins let alone beautiful ones. There are sayings supposedly attributed to Muhammad suggesting that heaven would offer each person 80,000 servants and 72 wives. I can't imagine anything worse than 72 wives.

cynic - 05 May 2011 17:18 - 67 of 140

true islam and the koran does not say many things that are foisted as "truths" by (not necessarily) fundamentalists especially on their womenfolk - e.g. being obliged to go in public in full burqa or not being allowed to drive or not being academically educated

Fred1new - 05 May 2011 17:51 - 68 of 140

Well interesting to see an ex-policeman who appeared to advocate torture, is now advocating murder.

I do hope he volunteers to rejoin the police force as a special constable to bolster up Cameron failing society.

They will need trigger happy individuals with experience to keep or streets safe.

Reminds me of the Birmingham six, who the lynch mob with members holding similar views to many of those on this thread, wanted to hang without trial.

So much for respect of international law, but do not be surprised when others disregard the law and seek to justify their actions.

But remember what you previously advocated.

As far as Rowan Williams is concerned, although I am atheist, I don't think Haystacks, cynic or aids are fit to lick his boots, morally or intellectually.

cynic - 05 May 2011 17:57 - 69 of 140

thank you for your kind and generous thoughts .... i'm deeply hurt actually, having a strong boot fetish, though arses sometimes provide an enjoyable alternative

am i mistaken, but have you actually said how YOU would have handled the situation had YOU been a soldier in the action? ...... had YOU been obama, would YOU have given strong and unequivocal instruction that BL not be harmed unless absolutely unavoidable? ...... i'ld bet not, as while you're great on the criticisms, you're not too hot in standing up and giving your own solutions

Fred1new - 05 May 2011 18:00 - 70 of 140

I think I will leave you to your own arse licking. It would seem more than appropriate for you.
