Methinks there may be a bit of strategic hand strengthening going on to benefit from the London Olympics.
Buying a company that specialises in town planning and traffic management in the south east?

I'm still quietly enjoying this one, all on my own.
Todays RNS shows why;
TRADING UPDATE
The board is pleased to report that trading conditions in our major markets
continue to be strong and that we expect that the results for the year to 31
March 2006 will be slightly ahead of expectations.

You're not entirely alone in this one, Alan. I've got a few tucked away but they are in a 'long-termers' portfolio and it's just not something I check frequently.

Good call Alan. Looks very strong at present - good growth and prospects in decent markets. Apart from miserable but understandably low yield, only downsides I can see are hefty pension scheme liabilities and possibility of getting an acquisition wrong.As with any consultancy, its best assets might also in theory walk out of the door. If I had any (and i don't) think I would be tempted to sell half once they had doubled and run the profit.Finance director sounds rather posh for you northern shareholders - hope he is not left handed ( always wary of left handed hyphens)

My Oz pal is a great fan of HYC ...... He's on hol at the mo, but will chat to him on his return to see if he still thinks they are a "buy" at the current comparatively high level, especially given current market volatility.
If one is frightfully clever, there is a lot of money to be made on the indices, but it's a brave and clever guy who can read the direction ...... Dow dived over 100 points at one point yesterday on inflation fears; recovered about 40 points and has zipped ahead about 60 today ..... all in a very tight range really, with tough resistance at 11250 ...... Don't forget the dictum that when Wall Street sneezes, the whole world catches a cold.

Thanks ofr the posts guys.
Been batting on about this one since it was just over 2, but the chartists tell me that a golden cross is seldom wrong (and 1 appears to be coming) and my own research suggests a very savvy company positioning itself to make a mint from consultancy in the run up to 2012 olympics.
If the trend looks like turning I may break an old habit of mine and get out and try to get back in cheaper.
if it goes the way it usually does, my sale will be the biggest buy signal the world has ever seen.

Alan ..... Golden X where? ..... I see good support at 260, and exceptionally strong building at around 270, but why onwards and upwards from this level?

Just looking at the chart (and i aint a chartist), the 50dma and the 200dma are both on an uptrend. the 50dma is about to cross the 200dma, upwards. I am told this is a golden cross, when it happens (nest day or two).
Shoot it down. its just what chartists have told me.
