Desire Petroleum are drilling in Falklands (DES)

free hit countersDesire Petroleum

<>Desire Petroleum plc (Desire) is a UK company listed on the Alternative Investment Market (AIM) dedicated to exploring for oil and gas in the North Falkland Basin.

Desire has recently completed a 6 well exploration programme. The Liz well encountered dry gas and gas condensate at 2 separate levels while other wells recorded shows.
Together with the Rockhopper Exploration Sea Lion oil discovery in the licence to the north, these wells have provided significant encouragement for the potential of the North Falkland Basin. The oil at Sea Lion is of particular interest as this has demonstrated that oil is trapped in potentially significant quantities in a fan sandstone on the east flank of the basin. It is believed that over 50% of this east flank play fairway is on Desire operated acreage.

Desire has now completed new 3D seismic acquisition which provides coverage over the east flank play, Ann, Pam and Helen prospects. The results from fast-track processing of priority areas are provided in the 2011 CPR. A farm-out to Rockhopper has been announced. The revised equities are shown on the licence map (subject to regulatory approval and completion of the farm-in well).

Guys, everyone wants to profit from this, so let's row the one way and not in opposite directions...............remember the old adage, 'DYOR'

watcher - 24 Jan 2005 16:47 - 514 of 6492

interesting day. Buys outnumber sells and the price goes down. Looks like the manipulation phase is entering the next phase and no matter how the buys verus the sells goes each day it won't effect the sp, till there is news.

HUSTLER - 24 Jan 2005 17:33 - 515 of 6492

agreed watcher
desperate for news, treading water at present

news breaks if positive we all want to be still onboard

Hi all

Markymar how ya doing ? Your the man !

It looks like we have another doji candle, this should change the current trend (refering to short term trend). It is generaly a good indicator as the doji before this one is sat right on top of the chart. This told us we may change direction & we did. So lets hope this one is correct! News must be just around the corner. Marky ? The stochastic oscillator also looks like it may change direction.

Hi all

I would like to bring the crystal ball out tonight and say I see Desire shares at 20 3 years down the line from now but I only see part of the picture but a safe one and thank you Eddie for hard work and please keep it up as help reassure other investors.

I dont know how many people read this thread probably about 8 of us and post but I would like to think it will be the number 1 thread on money am this year or should I say I hope as I expect news soon with multiple partners and multiple holes drilled said the Parrott.

Will they be raising of cash, probably but lets wait till the news breaks.

Thought for the night

If desire are successful lets say in there drilling in C&D and oil is found there can you imagine how much the other blocks are worth.

This is the very long term thought and one night maybe go down that road.

All I can say is look at 10 years in front of you not 1 to 3 years

Wait for the news then we have better idea

Regards all 8

Eddie dont know where you got the Doji from, certainly wasnt given today. Last one has you say was at the top on the 11/1. Nice base is being formed at 59p. Once SP breaks 62.5p then we should test recent highs.

HUSTLER - 24 Jan 2005 23:56 - 521 of 6492

bring on the news
trust the parrot lots of holes plenty of oil
good to see big 8 all hanging in there
keep up the good work marky and eddie
if it all comes good being nr 1 thread is assured
more important it will be nr 1 riser on the market

regards HUSTLER

Hi momentum

I have just looked back at the chart & it isn't a doji any more. Very strange. I dont know what has gone wrong ? There definatly was a doji last night. I'm not keen on the charts on moneyam, I usualy use sharescope. I am unable to post those charts. All that aside it still looking as you say support at 0.59p. Thanks for pointing this out momentum. Yes recent highs will be tested. I think will also be broken.

Kind Regards

Eddie

Hi Chaps,
Eddie looks as though the charts got caught out by todays comments in the Guardian about a 20 million quid placing at 50p with institutions and DES going it alone! Personally i think the story is a mismash of rumours.
1) 20 million is way to little to have any meaningful drilling program.
2) I just can't see DES going it alone, when they have been looking for partners for 6 years.

and of course number 3)The parrot says 'expect news soon with multiple partners and multiple holes drilled' is the clincher. Cheers Marky.

I know what you are saying with regard to successful drilling campaign in Tranches C&D (the area covered by the 3D seismic). Which is what we are all praying for!
This would in all likelyhood allow DES to easily do further 3D across remaning block I & L. If they look good too, Which judging by Rockhoppers interest in all the surrounding blocks is definately likely. a futher round of exploratory drilling may take place. Imagine the que of potential partners (if we needed them at all).

Gotta stop I am salivating on my keyboard...........

A bit of blue sky thinking on another down day!
Jon

The oil licencing round of the local government was preceded by the contracting of several seismic surveys done by Geco-Prakla and Spectrum Geophysical which revealed promising data. A total of six consortia, representing fourteen oil companies showed up on the closing day of the licencing, among which: British Gas with YPF; LASMO, which includes Desire a local Falklands/Malvinas partner; Amarada Hess with Evergreen; International Petroleum Corporation with the Swedish company Sands Petroleum. The fact all companies participated in consortia is because of the high cost of the drilling in this new province which is estimated between 10 and 15 million pounds for each well.

Fig: Illustrative project returns and revenue shares for a 500 million barrel offshore oilfield assuming exploration and appraisal costs of $50 million, $5 per barrel development costs including capital and drilling expenditure, an $18 per barrel oil price, start of production in year 8 of the project and peak production of 135,000 barrels per day four years later.

20 million is know where near what Desire need to go it a loan and i think yes to raise 20 million but with other partners.

markymar + The magnificent 7 (Your figures!), Good morning, I think you would be highly surprised at the number of people who do read this thread and indeed use some of your well founded research on other sites! Perhaps you will remember my first post a few days ago when following your reply, I read some earlier posting to help bring me, as a new investor, up to date & I assure you the content and charting were very good! So give yourselves some praise and keep up the good work because the information & debate on this thread deserves to reap the reward which, hopefully, we think, is in the DES future. Rgds. JNK.

Des is not nor has ever been an overnight ticket to eternal wealth. However for those of us who are long (another 3 years) rumours, dips and highs will come and go. Des manage their affairs in a very workmanlike manner and run a tight ship, they do not concern themselves with everyday tittle-tattle whether it be true or false. For some time now their tunnel vision determination WILL pay off and take us to the next phase (Farmin deal). I am equally sure that if drilling has not commenced in 2005 it will in Q1 2006.
The share price at this time will range from 3-5.
When the oil is found in quantity it will be substantially more.

But for now we watch and wait

All the best

Ming

Just to let you guys know, I'm also in and have been for some months now. I'm fairly new to all this but am very grateful to you to be able to read your posts and remain confident with DES in the long term.
Cheers

I am in for the count as well & have been a holder since early November last. I would also like to join the other posts of today & thank everyone for their invaluable effort & input into what is an extremely good & positive thread. DES is my share of 2005 so no short term plans from my quarter.
Thanks again to one & all.

Among the smaller companies, Desire Petroleum faded 1.25p to 60p amid whispers that it is putting the finishing touches to a 20m institutional fundraising at 50p. Market gossips believe the cash will be used to start exploration drilling in the North Falklands basin and suggest Desire has decided at present not to join forces with a larger oil company to develop the site.

This sounds like good news to me.
