ASOS have dropped quite significantly in the past week for no particular reason and I view this as the perfect opportunity to invest as I can see them bouncing right back up to the 5.50p mark in the next 2-3 weeks. STRONG BUY!!

Eric: I have as you requested taken a look see at YOO's chart...and commented appropriately..I think! But it did make me think about what the appropraite Stop Loss should be for all the stocks in out Portfolio, and more importantly, Why? I wonder if there is any support among the sponsors to suggest a SL for their chosen stocks with an explanation to back it up. I am sure we can all learn something from this. It will also enable us to look at the best risk/reward stakes that could be taken??
Over to you as I busily write something up for PCI?? John

I think the stop loss proposal is a good idea - perhaps sponsors could take a view during the week so that we can include on spreadsheet next weekend. Have tended to take an informal approach, as on many things. Have probably suffered as a result, e.g. earthport. You are right that each stock neems to be considered on its merit - e.g. with a stop loss on PET of 25% we would have broken it already. My own approach is to take a view, and normally get out, if there is negative news which reduces my own expectations, not necessarily primarily because of the potential loss on the share but because of greater opportunities elsewhere.

I agree with your final comment Eric. Not sure a stop loss is really going to work with PET. Let's face it either they get these contracts and go into orbit or they don't and sink like a stone. I'm sure if the news is released before the markets open as I expect will happen ...and it's bad the opening price will be way below any stop loss we would have set. Hopefully a decision will be announced end of this week or beginning of next,so we may not have long to go.

sandrew64: Yes...well PET is rather an exception as the SP all rests on one outcome...it's almost a binary bet! John

Anybody read the Independent today? Nice little article outlining that sales have been significantly up over September and October. Looking good!

dawsinho: Many thanks on behalf of all readers following this thread!
More good news - we have another Analyst covering the company and as soon as we have some of the figures to hand, we can compare them with what we have from SPierce. Plus an RNS today telling us that an Institution has topped up it's holding. They would only do this if they think the business is doing well and/or some corporate action is not too far away! John

Name of Broker is Shore Capital. They have a BUY rating at 60p. Perhaps that explains the early day up tick in the price..we will see! Does anyone have a link with Shore? John

Re: the PET posts above.
I bought at 50p and increased my stop loss accordingly as the price rose slowly. When the price dropped suddenly, I decided upon reflection and a lot of looking around, to abandon the stop loss on these shares and hold. Lucky I did...
An oily gassy one for the future... Gold Oil (GOO). Have a look at yesterdays RNS, interesting stuff, could be the next big one...

Re: Article in the Independent 18.10.04
THE ONLINE fashion retailer Asos - led by chief executive Nick Robertson, pictured above (Nice big pic of Nick Roberetson and two models covering 1/3 of the page) - held a party at London's cc Club at the end of last week to launch its autumn/winter collection.
A spy, who caught a quick word with an Asos director, tells us that business is booming at the group. The company had a great September in terms of sales and October has so far been even better. In its last financial year, Asos recorded pre-tax profits of 620,000 pounds and for the current year brokers estimate this figure may soar to 1.3m. If what our spy hears is correct, this forecast could prove to be too conservative.
Very positive article, nothing that we don't already really know though. Always good to see Asos getting some more coverage!
Happy hunting.....

Booming Sept and October eh!I think there is a thing called Xmas about to happenwhere ladies buy extra glad rags to boogie in + jewellery which is an extension of their range. The recent rate of improvement might not be maintained..............it could very possibly increase!! Providing they keep their product offerings "cool" Nov,Dec and January could be amazing(IMO)
I fancy the 1 will be reached during this period with a pause for breath in Feb.Still can not see why this could not reach 3 share price i suggeswted in an earlier post.... given time(18 months?)

Eric,
Did you get my internal message? Not too sure how MoneyAM alerts to the fact that you have an internal message?

Yes, message received. I tried to reply to address given but returned as invalid. Have tried sending by bb administrator but you don't seem to have it. Perhaps best if you restate the e-mail address. All the best.

Well, this is what happens when a snippet of news slips out. Up 6p on the day and Bollinger Band breached horribly! Price marked up at start of trading which probably reflected the annoucement of an instutional purchase of 1m shares at 65p. The mm's are obviously not geared up to handle that sort of volume which means that the price should respond quite sharply to a surge of buying. Price steadily rose during the day even though sells were tracking somewhat ahead of buys. Might come back a bit tomorrow - that would be a buying opportunity. Repeat, bb participants should be overweight in ASC, i.e. not less than 20%. Well done dawsinho re Independent post. Another reason for buying is that ASC is newsworthy and the Xmas season hasn't started yet. Willfagg might get carried away but this is most likely because of over-celebration! Add! ADD! ACCUMULATE!
Eric (by the way, YOO back in first place as a constant riser [5% stake min.] and ASC established in 3rd)

first time I have posted on this thread. Have traded and held ASC from around 30p. It is a stonking stock and has made a nice break above it's resistance today.(hope it holds with this grim market)
I do know that the CEO less than 2 weeks agao when asked about current business and trading, his reply was that 'it is going gangbusters'.
Bodes well. Good luck to all that hold

SEADOG: I am really pleased for you and it must come as a relief after such a long wait! In 'small stocks' it often takes a while before the SP moves up...and in any case no stock goes up in a straight line (or down in the case of Shorters!). If the week closes at or around these levels it could well mean that some of the big shorters and followers start unwinding positions...and then watch events!
Jules: Re your comments on trading - I can only add that if the purchase activities of the many followers of the ASOS site follow a certain person who is close to me, and seems to enjoy real retail therapy on the ASOS site...he and his many shareholders (including me) are in for a New Year treat!

MM's have decent trading balance today. Sellers around for profit-taking when they can get 68p. Buyers have taken over at 69p - 70p. There must be more people outside who want to be in than insiders who want to be out - so price should move back above 70p before long and stay there. Still a buying opportunity.
John: does she think she is increasing your capital by utilising your profits? Here's to her and all those with similar penchants.

Eric: In reference to your question...she might but we have not discussed it...YET! Bottom line is that in my opinion the products, delivery and administration of the site appear to be excellent. Key issue for me is that every time I look at this company I see an opportunity to make some more money and start looking at rejigging portfolio to do so!
