Brokers Hargreave Hale gave the following Valuation for HMY
VALUATION
The nearest comparisons to this Group are Sondex, trading on a current year multiple of 14 and Weir Group which typically trades on multiples of 12 plus. We would argue that Hamworthys prospects are brighter than both these companies in view of the strong order book and the global positioning. Fully taxed earnings of 13p this year and 16.5 p for the 2005/6 end March, suggests a current year PE of 9.9x and a prospective PE of 7.8x. There is a prospective yield in excess of 4%. If trading on a similar PER to Sondex the shares would be valued at in excess of 180p. We would argue that a premium to Sondex is justifiable, in particular because of the potential ramp up to sales as a result of the new product pipeline now gaining client acceptance in what is in any event one of the fastest growing markets in the world.
"Shares" Article relating to Hamworthy (HMY) posted below for info.
With a following wind these shares should double over the next year or so.
Some catty folk in the City say the flotation last month by Collins Stewart
could have been handled better, i.e. at a higher price. It was certainly over
subscribed but the rating is half that of similar oil sector service companies
including Sondex.

Have to admit that I wasn't in the last time around :( Only got in during the dip in February after loitering since late last year.
I'm confident long-term but for all the speculation, there has been little news recently. Interesting though about the contract news being released around the results last time though. Looking at the chart for September 04, there was a spike in price and volume around this time.
This could be an interesting end to the month - currently MMG, soon HMY :)
You must be very, very happy just now given that you are also into VML!
Cheers,
Stuart

The CFDealer: liquid natural gas fuels hot opportunities
Published: 16:16 Thursday 24 March 2005 By: Graeme Dickson, Head of trading,
With oil reaching new highs recently and concerns about the damage it is doing to the environment, oil majors and economies alike are looking for alternative sources of energy.
Nuclear power seems to be high on the agenda as its output produces relatively low levels of carbon emissions. Another alternative energy source is liquid natural gas (LNG) which is a methane gas cooled to minus 260F. Since LNG is a natural gas, it burns clean and is environmentally friendly. At the moment LNG makes up only 6% of the worlds natural gas trade but is expected to grow on average 6.7% per year.
A stock that offers an indirect exposure to LNG is Hamworthy (HMY). This was mentioned as a trading idea on 10 February at 198p, the shares are now trading at a mid price of 235.5p, an increase of 18%. The company designs and makes LNG handling systems for tankers and has a healthy order book worth about 130 million. This stock is well worth keeping an eye on and should the shares slip below 230p it might be worth considering a top-up on existing long positions.
cheers GF.

Nothing we didn't already know but it is nice to see ongoing positive comment from analysts. What we need is some update from HMY - any idea when ?

Reason for me indicating that the results were on the 31st was the information on the Hamworthy web site:
http://www.hamworthy.com/investor/financials.asp
Previous 2 years, year-end financials are shown in the simple table with the date showing March 31st.
I'm concerned that no matter what the results are or whatever news is released this week is going to be swallowed up in the current market negativity :(
Agree with your post on the MMG board - ban bank holidays!
Cheers,
Stuart

National Grid (NGT) have announced that they are spending over 300 Million to triple the size of their Isle of Grain import facility for LNG. When complete in 2008 it will bring in about 12% of the UK's needs. Can only mean more potential business for HMY.

The contract to build this terminal was won by a company called Chicago Bridge and Iron, traded on NSYE under ticker 'CBI' it's another way to play the LNG story, but more hassle as its a US Stock.

Another way is to buy into Star Energy (STAR) which is converting run down oil fields into LNG storage sites. See their thread and their website for more info. I own shares in Star.
