Referendum : to be in Europe or not to be ?, that is the question ! (REF)

required field - 03 Feb 2016 10:00

Thought I'd start a new thread as this is going to be a major talking point this year...have not made up my mind yet...(unlike bucksfizz)....but thinking of voting for an exit as Europe is not doing Britain any good at all it seems....

Fred1new - 05 Apr 2016 15:40 - 517 of 12628

I like my armchair.

It is V.C..

Stan - 05 Apr 2016 16:24 - 518 of 12628

Loose the point and then resort to personal abuse, a typical "Con"artist voters/sympathisers response.

.. and should they receive the same back they then cry and whinge about it, what a pathetic bunch.

EU referendum: Taxpayers to fund £9m leaflet to every home warning about the 'damage' of Brexit

Nearly £10million pounds of taxpayers’ money is to be spent sending a leaflet to every UK home warning about the dangers of a “Brexit”, prompting a Cabinet row over the use of public money.

The Government announced on Wednesday night that it was spending more than £9.3million on the pamphlet warning that an EU exit would put jobs at risk and increase the price of household goods.

Boris Johnson and other Eurosceptic ministers accused the Government of using public money to "scare people" ahead of the EU referendum.

Mr Johnson, who attends Mr Cameron’s political Cabinet, called the leaflet a “complete waste of money” and said that it is a “biased and hysterical warning”.

Vote Leave, which is chaired by Michael Gove, the Justice Secretary, said it was a “disgraceful” use of public money and immediately accused Downing Street of announcing the leaflet “to distract from accusations over David Cameron’s tax affairs”.

Mr Gove’s group also accused Mr Cameron of breaking a promise made last year not to issue leaflets to homes ahead of the referendum and said that the Government-backed Remain campaign will now be able to spend double the amount of money that Leave has at its disposal.

The £9.3million leaflet, which will go to 27million homes, claims that:

Leaving the EU would cause an “economic shock” that would “put pressure on the value of the pound”.

A “Brexit” would “risk higher prices of some household goods and damage living standards”.

British voters could lose access to cheap flights, face higher mobile roaming charges when travelling and lose access to cheaper healthcare on holiday if they back a “Brexit”.

More than three million jobs could be threatened because they are linked to exports to the EU, the leaflet suggests.

EU membership is essential to “controlling immigration and securing our borders” and keeping Britain safe from terrorists.

Leaving the EU would "result in 10 years of uncertainty" as the UK unpicks its relationship with the bloc.

Nigel Farage, the Ukip leader, said: “Legally it is questionable and morally it is wrong.”

He added: “Furthermore, the document is jammed full of lies and inaccuracies including the claim that we currently control our borders. We don't. It is outrageous to suggest otherwise."

Partly the trouble with this voting either way is that : everybody assumes that if you vote against remaining in the common market is that you are against the common market ! or against Europe at all : that's not true.....it's not the trading with europe or dealing or even funding our fair share of the common market that brexit or opters-out or whatever you might call them are against ; it's that Britain does not retain as it is control over our status in Europe as an individual nation able to restrict illegal immigration into our country and it's the fact that we the UK citizens are paying over the odds for our participation in the Eurozone !.....the exit voters are being made to feel bad about wanting out ! : that is not right !.....

jimmy b - 07 Apr 2016 08:02 - 529 of 12628

That's really made me mad ,Cameron spending our money on trying to manipulate us to stay in the EU.

Stan - 07 Apr 2016 08:15 - 530 of 12628

Most of you lot on here put him in 2010.. so save your time, stop moaning and work to get him out.

jimmy b - 07 Apr 2016 08:21 - 531 of 12628

For who Stan ? maybe that's a question you will answer .

Stan - 07 Apr 2016 08:23 - 532 of 12628

Already answered it on the Muppet thread and months ago on here JB.

jimmy b - 07 Apr 2016 08:47 - 533 of 12628

I missed that so what's the problem with repeating it ?

grannyboy - 07 Apr 2016 08:51 - 534 of 12628

WE are NO LONGER in the common market, that is now obsolete...It has been replaced with a POLITICAL AGENDA, which was know about from inception but kept from the public..

And why anyone would feel bad about leaving an undemocratic, unaccountable, unregulated organisation is beyond me...

And of course under the rules of the EU, immigration from the other 27 countries is not illegal, but the only way to stop it is to LEAVE, but when you've got millions coming into europe from around the world thats exaggerated the situation massively, then that's illegal......

As to the lying deceptive leaflets being distributed...People will see through the lies, plus of course more people are seeing what a lying snake oil salesman cameron really is....

Stan - 07 Apr 2016 08:52 - 535 of 12628

In general I don't like encouraging laziness JB, as I say if you go to the Muppet thread it's on there as from today.

jimmy b - 07 Apr 2016 08:54 - 536 of 12628

Such a complete pratt Stan ,i don't know why you bother.
