The European Union will not give in to British demands for full access to the bloc's single market unless London allows free movement of people, Ireland's prime minister Enda Kenny said on Monday.
Britain's minister charged with negotiating Brexit, David Davis, said last week that it was pressing for a "unique" deal with the EU to restore sovereignty, reduce immigration by controlling its borders and boost trade with the bloc after the split.
But European leaders have warned Britain it cannot cherry pick which rules it follows if it wants to continue to have unfettered access to Europe's markets.
"Let me tell you that around the European Council table, that is an issue that will not be given in on," Kenny said in an interview with Ireland's Newstalk radio station.
He said the issue had been "very directly addressed" by European leaders to the British government.
Kenny said the British government did not appear to have a clear position on what form of Brexit it was trying to achieve.
"They don't have a definite horizon as to where they want to be," he said.

If May tries to do any deal that involves free movement she is dead in the water ,i think there would be another leadership contest before the next election because they know they would lose . One of the others would run against her.
Now i'm sure Haystack will appear to tell us that the Tories could never ever lose another election but just watch.

How utterly useless is he?' Anger as Remainer Smith says he may even SCRAP POUND.
LABOUR leadership candidate Owen Smith has said he would reapply to join the European Union if he was to be elected as prime minister in 2020.
Mr Smith has claimed that it was “hypothetically” possible for the UK to rejoin the EU, even if that means signing up to the euro and Schengen area.
The MP for Pontypridd, who has constantly called for a second referendum, speaking on The Andrew Marr Show said he would consider the move if Britain had entered a “further recession” and if he became PM.
The 46-year-old said: “I think at that point if we have gone into a further recession, if we had the prospect of another 10 years of Tory austerity, if they were saying the price of us staying out is opening up the NHS to private sector competition and there are worse terms and conditions, more ‘flexibility and less red tape’, as the Tories will no doubt dub it.
“Then I think the sensible and responsible thing for a Labour government to do is say, ‘we’re better off in the European Union’
Mr Smith, when challenged by Marr, said he would “potentially” agree to scrap the pound in favour of the euro and join the Schengen area if it means Britain can rejoin the EU.
He added: “The key thing is they’ve [the Conservatives] not said definitively [when we will leave] - a couple of weeks ago they were briefing it might not be until 2019 because they trigger Article 50.
“I’m an internationalist, a collaborator and a cooperator, I want Britain to be part of the European Union.”
Mr Smith's comments drew anger on social media.
On Twitter, Rrose SelaKlee said: “#marr Owen Smith will take us back into th EU if he gets a chance, with Euro & free mvmnt....Last slim hope for Labour has just disappeared.”
Naomi55 added: “Did Owen smith just say he would reapply to the EU if we are out?!?! How utterly useless is this guy?”

I think what T May and cohorts think is that "Brexit" means looking out the window getting rid of some of the dust like Boris, Davies, and Fox and then closing it behind them and pulling down the blinds.
She seems to be in an awful hurry at the moment.
She is selling a pup to the riff raff in her own party and UKIP.

Arrogant politics is coming to an end hopefully VIC we must stop these politicians who just don't listen .
I couldn't believe Owen Smith on the Marr show ,he obviously just wants to do what he wants to do , the likes of these people must never be elected again .
