Does anyone trade sterling against the Australian dollar: the latter has fallen sharply against the pound - I would like to know why.
Thanks.

Harlosh - 21 Mar 2006 09:49 - 5233 of 11056

bosley,

I've been on a very steep learning curve over the last few weeks particulary with real time charts on forex. I must confess it has been a fairly costly exercise as I learn by my mistakes. I THINK I am getting there now but I wish you success. There are not many posters on here at the moment so help is thin on the ground but I wish you luck.

Sorry, am about, haven't been posting as I have some of my sisters outhere visiting. Did a couple of fx trades last week(not very clever), but have had a couple of good moves on the ukx(bringing memories of 6 years ago). Cable looks like its turning into a nice short as is EUR/USD.
Like your lines chocy, catch you later in the week

Harlosh - 21 Mar 2006 10:23 - 5235 of 11056

'some of my sisters'. How may you got Gfi :-))

ps sorry, should have said Hi bosley, you the guy with charlies angels! Good luck, persevere to prosper. Flintoffs just out for 50(if anyones interested)

hilary - 21 Mar 2006 16:32 - 5238 of 11056

Sunbury,

The Aussie Dollar has been weak across the board in general because interest rates haven't budged since March 2005, whereas everybody else's seem to have either risen or offer the prospect of rising in the near future. The market has simply been pricing in the loss of the carry. Weak economic data isn't helping future prospects either.

Harlosh - 21 Mar 2006 17:29 - 5239 of 11056

Hilary,

I'm currently watching GBP,CHF,JPY,EUR against USD and
EUR/GBP and EUR/JPY.

Without wanting to watch them all, are there any others you would suggest I look at?

hilary - 22 Mar 2006 07:51 - 5240 of 11056

Harlosh,

I wouldn't watch Chunnel with a view to trading it because it's more fun watching paint dry. I only use it to get a feel.

The real hairem scarem is GBP/JPY. Not for widows and orphans.

Harlosh - 22 Mar 2006 08:12 - 5241 of 11056

Thanks Hilary.

Divetime - 22 Mar 2006 08:19 - 5242 of 11056

Morning all, just waiting for BOE minutes at 09:30 before deciding which way to go on Cable.

Harlosh - 23 Mar 2006 18:39 - 5243 of 11056

Would like to announce my first winning trade on forex and at this moment in time a nice 71 points. Or should that be pips. :-))

shano1 - 23 Mar 2006 20:23 - 5244 of 11056

Nice one Harlosh, I take it you caught the move after the US Existing Home Sales data release? Did you trade the USDJPY or cable?

Harlosh - 23 Mar 2006 20:32 - 5245 of 11056

Thanks shano.

Actually my system gave a sell signal on Cable yesterday but I didn't take it. It was still there today so I traded it and went out. Came back this evening to a pleasant surprise.

I've been working on my sytem for nearly three weeks solid so it was nice to get a resujlt after many failures.

goforit - 23 Mar 2006 21:29 - 5246 of 11056

welldone H. The guy I'm sharing an apartment with has spent 2.5 years on his system to trade fx!

Harlosh - 23 Mar 2006 21:31 - 5247 of 11056

Thanks Gfi. We'll see how long mine lasts. LOL

One swallow doesn't make a summer. :-)
