THE TALK TO YOURSELF THREAD. (NOWT)

goldfinger - 09 Jun 2005 12:25

Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).

Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.

cheers GF.

This afternoon, Lady Jenkin apologised for her comments, admitting she had been "stupid".

Fred1new - 08 Dec 2014 15:07 - 52443 of 81564

GF,

She is good at PR.

cynic - 08 Dec 2014 15:09 - 52444 of 81564

surprisingly easily actually, not least because many of these cheap dishes are extensions of each other, and some take very little time to make in the first place

if you can't find the time to make use of dried pulses (first class protein), then tinned ones are equally good and are "instant" and can be quickly made into something very tasty

goldfinger - 08 Dec 2014 15:10 - 52445 of 81564

LOL......must be Fred.

Another 2% of the Tories national poll mid week.

One area that NI is used for is that the government can borrow from the National Insurance fund to help pay for other projects. Maybe they borrowed the rest.

Haystack - 08 Dec 2014 15:27 - 52448 of 81564

Looking back at previous years, the NI fund has shown a surplus for many years. The surplus for 2008/2009 was £50bn.

It looks like Prescott was talking out of his arse as usual.

TANKER - 08 Dec 2014 15:43 - 52449 of 81564

the mother of those two jailed for fighting with isil should be asking the question why did you fight for evil scum cutting of peoples heads those going to fight for isil are murderers and should be charged with treason and hung tell this mother to think about those they have killed . the charity workers helping them

she should be ashamed of them and disown them unless she agrees with them
they should not be allowed back in the uk they made their choice now live with it

goldfinger - 08 Dec 2014 15:45 - 52450 of 81564

Errr Hays you havent got the point as usual.

Back in 2008/2009 the Health service and the Welfare State werent broke like they are now.

Please engage your brain before passing silly comment on good points made by MPs of any party.........thankyou.

cynic - 08 Dec 2014 15:47 - 52451 of 81564

sticky - didn't you fancy responding to 52447?

==============

NHS etc have been in ICU for many more years than you make out, though it is inevitably and progressively getting worse for all sorts of very good and pretty obvious reasons - eg lower % of population paying NIC and more and more people getting older and older

goldfinger - 08 Dec 2014 15:49 - 52452 of 81564

TANKER, absolutely right about not letting them back into the country even if they are state less.

Good riddance to them I say and the more that get bombed the better.

As for there mother if its the one I think it is, she should be exposed to all the local people locality where she lives and no special treatment given like re- hosing somewhere else in the country to protect her.

goldfinger - 08 Dec 2014 15:50 - 52453 of 81564

52447? just checking cyners.

TANKER - 08 Dec 2014 15:52 - 52454 of 81564

aldwickk - 08 Dec 2014 15:54 - 52455 of 81564

goldfinger said : If you and your wife are working a 50 hour week or more, how on earth do you find the time to prat about like you suggest Cyners?

Same as they did in 30's , 40's , and 50's no TV but they could cook while listening to the radio.

I keep getting invites to play Candy crush , haven't been tempted . It seems to be very addictive, even normal well educated people play it

cynic - 08 Dec 2014 15:54 - 52456 of 81564

I agree that a lot of people have lost the art of how to cook granny recipes and the like, probably because

1. Supermarkets sell instant foods

2. Working people these days when they get home from work especially with familys are to say the least shagged out, and havent go the energy to prat about in the kitchen

3. Most mothers who stayed at home in the past and didnt work but were housewifes, knew how to cook cheap meals.

This silly women who as made the charge should know that, but obviously didnt and had to be briefed and in her own words "admitted she had been stupid".

cynic - 08 Dec 2014 15:59 - 52459 of 81564

aldo - not quite fair as generally speaking i don't think both parents would have had jobs ...... however, most labour-saving gadgets were not readily available either - eg washing machines, vacuum cleaners, dishwashers

cynic - 08 Dec 2014 16:03 - 52460 of 81564

total flannel sticky .....

except you're right that people are also too damn lazy or ignorant even when strapped for cash and would rather spend far too many of their few pennies buying instant (high salt, high fat, low nutrition) ready-made meals + biscuits, cakes, fizzy drinks, sweets etc

lack of time is total rubbish ......
for as i said, an awful lot of very tasty and nutritious meals can be made very quickly ..... or things like casseroles will last several days and the remnants then used as soup base

goldfinger - 08 Dec 2014 16:41 - 52461 of 81564

Rubbish, your out of touch cyners.

Why do you think the the Tory peer had to apologise.

Your in a minority.

Do you realise some of these working people get home and then within a hour or so have to go back out working to make ends meet.

Why because of a low wage economy which only looks after the ultra rich.
