London is warm and sunny...but, lo! I spy a cloud.....not a very big one yet, but....

Roast lobster, green salad and a glass of white burgundy, please, Mr Woofer..

little willie - 16 Apr 2004 16:32 - 5264 of 23498

I think Bonny Scotland gets it over 'The Smoke' altho Vasey, Lobster and vino is a hell of a 'tempter'.
Also of course, at the moment Scotland is 'midge free', I believe they arrive on or about 25th July each year; after that, Golf...forget it!

We didn't play, instead we made our donation to the 'good cause' then buggered orf and went and introduced a couple of our friends to Sweet Revenge and gave her some carrotts for which she was most grateful.
I always say, you can't beat a nice nuzzle from a filly, they have such soft mouths.

Socrates - 16 Apr 2004 16:54 - 5265 of 23498

Yee haaaaaaaaaaaaaaa, the weekend is upon us. Anyone going to the antiques fair at the NEC?

snoball - 16 Apr 2004 17:46 - 5266 of 23498

No, Socs. I'm off to some TA/shares seminar in Islington tomorrow. Not so sure that was a good idea. Too late, its booked now.
On Sunday it's back to removing varnish etc from floor. Booooooring!

Socrates - 16 Apr 2004 18:53 - 5267 of 23498

snoball
Floors you can sand anytime, the fair ends on Sunday. I could even give you a free ticket for two.

snoball - 16 Apr 2004 20:21 - 5268 of 23498

Thanks for the generous offer Socs but it's a bit far and not enough notice.
I know nothing about antiques so it would probably all be lost on me.

Socrates - 17 Apr 2004 09:57 - 5269 of 23498

Good morning earthpeople. Lovely planet today but I can't hang around because there is a traffic warden hanging around near my flying saucer. I might just turn him into plastic toy and stuff him into a cornflake packet.

stockbunny - 17 Apr 2004 13:34 - 5270 of 23498

Socs....I'm beginning to worry about you dear...Maybe it's a
lack of trifle and you are suffering withdrawal symptoms, as
it seems like you are hallucinating, there haven't been plastic
toy traffic wardens in cornflakes for ages my friend. As for the
one pursuing your flying saucer, remedy is easy - put it into
reverse!

JJ50 - Hello new cafe person! I love Scotland, went to the
Highlands (Loch Torridon) on holiday and that was it, there's no place like it!
Save the midges who really are a pain.

OK I'll have some of the left over crab or lobster and salad please..

jj50 - 17 Apr 2004 14:02 - 5271 of 23498

Thanks for the welcome stockbunny! Am afraid the weather forecast yesterday has been rather over-ruled today - bitterly cold and windy (that probably was our Summer) and any remaining midges will have been blown well off course - they tend to have too much sense to come to the East Coast anyway!

I rather fancy the sound of that left over crab or lobster too ....

Golddog - 17 Apr 2004 14:44 - 5272 of 23498

jj, Welcome to the Cafe my friend, please enjoy a large plate of crab. Would you like a drink with that?

Well i must of caught the digging bug off little woman cos i'm out digging up lawn all morning! and it's bloody hard work. Plate of crab for myself i think and a pint of usuall.
:-)

Vasey, Give us a smile.

optomistic - 17 Apr 2004 15:24 - 5273 of 23498

GD
What have you and LW got burried under your lawns? :-))
Vasey hasn't been in since the lobster, hope she is OK

Socrates - 17 Apr 2004 15:51 - 5274 of 23498

All this talk of crabs has set me going on a little project. I've made a secret deal with a Russian sailor to supply the cafe with these little beggars, see link below:

http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2004/03/0309_040309_giantcrabs.html#main

Anyone who can eat a whole one in one sitting deserves a medal or alternatively an indigestion tablet, or two.

stockbunny - 17 Apr 2004 16:11 - 5275 of 23498

Possibly a bucket or sick bag also I suggest......

optomistic - 17 Apr 2004 17:02 - 5276 of 23498

Up to 1.5 mtrs across, a couple of those a week should be OK for the Cafe!!

Socrates - 18 Apr 2004 00:27 - 5277 of 23498

Each?

Socrates - 18 Apr 2004 07:54 - 5278 of 23498

Good morning all. A damp and dismal day here in the West, but who cares? Bring on the crabs.

optomistic - 18 Apr 2004 11:08 - 5279 of 23498

Good morning all. Wet in the north also, don't suppose we will see Bunny in here this morning, she will probably be hopping around the Marathon. I like watching them, and thats enough. Fit people!!

snoball - 18 Apr 2004 12:47 - 5280 of 23498

stockbunny, re midges, try Marmite. Apparently they dont like the smell of Vitamin B.

GD, you are supposed to mow the lawn and dig the flower beds. Not vice versa.

Good afternoon all. That is to say it is not a good afternoon down here. It's been chuckin' it down all day.

Socrates - 18 Apr 2004 17:17 - 5281 of 23498

Marmite is a very good Socco repellant too.

little willie - 18 Apr 2004 18:58 - 5282 of 23498

Evening all, been a lovely day here.
LW also dislikes marmite but Mrs LW loves the stuff..
Socs re your post 5277 I thought you 'Flying types' didn't resort to using 'Andrew' language; what is happening in the world!
