Hi,
I have just encountered a problem opening my camera transfer software, which will not open anymore. I cannot transfer photos from the camera to the PC.
I get an error message Error 0x80040707.
I have googled this and not knowing much about computer I am not sure how to tackle this problem.
I run Registry Mechanic, but that wont fix the problem.
Any basic help would be appreciated.
Cheers Ron

Are you running XP? It will usually recognise most cameras that have USB connections and treat them as a storage device. You may have to reinstall the driver for the camera which probably came on a CD.
To be honest I never use the transfer software. I just plug the camera in and use the file manager and copy from the camera's file system.

I agree with Haystack, Using XP there is no need to run camera software - it's a simple file transfer. If that doesn't work, you could always get one of those card readers and slot the card into that - that would give you the same file transfer options.

I am running XP.
I have tried and cannot re-install the driver or anything from the CD, it just gives the error message 0x80040707.
The camera does not have a USB connection.
The problem didnt exist until a few days ago, all was well, but something has gone wrong, and now it wont work at all.

Have you tried downloading the latest version of the software from the internet?

Can you use other USB devices on the PC? Check System, Hardware, Device manager and look at USB ports and see if they are working alright.

All my other USB devices work.
I cannot find the appropriate software to download, from the Olympus site. Its not listed.
The strange thing is that I have 2 CD's for 2 Olympus cameras, both have slightly different software, and not one of them will install. I have even removed the existing software, using Control Panel/ remove/add software.
I dont understand the error message 0x80040707.

Could it be a camera problem?

Cant be a camera problem, as all I am doing is trying to open the Olympus Master, and look at photos at the moment, but when I come to transfer images it wont work either.

ron. Have you tried another download program? I've got an Olympus and I can use Adobe Photoshop Starter Edition (Freebie) if I want sometimes.

On XP you don't need download programs. It is just anothert file system.

Hi.
I think my PC memory needs increasing.
How do I go about this?
Thanks.

Have a look at the motherboard manual that came with your PC. It should show what combinations are possible. It may even show you how to remove and refit the new chip board. There are usually clips at either end to be released. There may be a manual on the internet. What sort of PC/motherboard is it?
How much memory have you got at present?

Go to
http://www.crucial.com they have a system scanner which will check your system and recomend an upgrade.
However, if you already have 1GB of RAM why do you think you need more? Whilst many modern systems can use more memory than this, you still need some memory hungry apps to take advantage of it.

Optimist. That's a good site! I wish I'd have seen that before ordering from Santa this year. I'll wait for New Year and do an upgrade myself.
It recommends me to put a 1024Mb alongside my 2 x 250's.
86 for the chip doesn't seem too bad.
Cheers.
