Does the product have a security code in the box? If it is the key to the access then a product from a third party may not be secure. I am not sure how the security is handled.

I've bought products like Norton Internet security from highly rated retailers on ebay and the products have worked fine. Sometimes you get a slightly older version, and they're rarely boxed, but I never think all the latest bells and whistles are always neccessary.

Buying from a highly rated source means you can be reasonably confident they're not using pirated software. Someone, somewhere, would have left negative feedback if they were.

You're usually buying oem versions which were intended for distribution with a new PC but somehow became detached from their link - but they work fine. If it were me, I'd go the ebay route.

cc, take a look at www.logmein.com. It may do what you need and the basic version is free.

"I want to buy pc anywhere so that I can use my laptop to take control of my pc principally so that I can access my email held in outlook on my pc."

If that is all you want to do then why on access Outlook from the laptop and leave the original Email on the server. It is a problem about historic Emails on your PC, but they can be copied across to the laptop as well.

Within the last month sombody recommended Crucial (from America) on here, I can't trace back who It was but would like to ask If anyone has used them.

The price on RAM Is about 50 cheaper compared to buying over here. 2x512.

So the questions are has anyone used them for RAM, how long do they take to deliver (standard). Is the quility as good as Kingston memorey which Is the make of supply over here?

Thanks.

Chuff Chuff Chaser, re the picture the loan pop up. I have found and removed the cookie (took some locating) will see if this will stop it popping up...

Kayak - 03 Jan 2007 17:27 - 5328 of 11003

Stan, memory is pretty much a commodity these days, and there are only a small number of actual factories producing the chips, all in the Far East I think. I doubt very much that the quality would vary between Crucial and Kingston and certainly not between USA and UK. Personally I would probably look on ebay first as it might well be cheaper and probably exactly the same stuff. Consider ebay US too.

Thanks K, I'll have a look.

Hi problems installing router :-

I installed the software for voyager 2091 ADSL router and BT voyager 1055 usb 2.0 Adaptor and wired up the router as described however cannot seem to connect to the internet.

Should I have installed the adaptor usb and should I have uninstalled my existing broadband connection, if I don't use the usb do I just use an Ethernet connection. Seemed simple but there you go.

Kayak - 04 Jan 2007 16:07 - 5332 of 11003

Were you using a USB modem previously? In which case uninstall it and plug the router straight into the Ethernet. There is no reason to go via USB and it will be slower. Also set IE connection options to 'never dial a connection'.

Has anyone any experience of using a booster with their router? Are they worth getting?
I run a Belkin 54G and my PC is about 40 feet and 2 solid walls away. My signal strength is so low I lose the signal every few minutes.
The booster is about 100, but will it help, or is there another remedy.
Thanks in advance,
Alan

Does anyone have any experience of Speedupmypc? I came across it while searching for info on CIDAEMON.

ThePublisher - 07 Jan 2007 17:18 - 5335 of 11003

H.

" or is there another remedy."

I use those jobbies that relay a signal through your ring mains. Mine is a Devolo but there are lots of other brands at broadbandbuyer.

Simple and reliable.

Trying to copy old VHS videos to DVD, using a scart to scart connection, and it's coming through in black and white (Copying from my VHS recorder to my Liteon HDD DVD recorder). Any ideas?

Kayak - 08 Jan 2007 00:39 - 5339 of 11003

Probably a mismatch between S-VHS and VHS, both ends need to supply and receive the same type of signal.

Seymour Clearly - 08 Jan 2007 06:50 - 5340 of 11003

Thanks Kayak, the Tape is definitely only VHS. Anyway, having looked at the various websites, it seems that it's far more satisfactory to copy to the PC first then make the DVD after editing on the PC - I'd still like to be able to copy directly really though.

Why doesn't my stock watch work?

Please help, before my P.C. dies a painful death.
