Informa Global Markets currency analyst Fergal Smith said the dollar is likely to continue southward even as Japan is seen strongly protecting the dollar/yen from falling below the 108 level.

Smith added that the market will be most sensitive to US Federal Reserve Board Chairman Alan Greenspan's testimony on the US economy and policies today and tomorrow.

If Greenspan is as upbeat about employment as he was last Friday, Smith said it would be bullish for the dollar since 'it is seen as bringing forward the timetable for a US interest rate hike'.

'If however, he does not give much fresh policy clues, it would be bearish on the dollar, aggravating ongoing concerns of the US twin deficits,' Smith said.

After its overnight rally the euro declined slightly in Singapore trade on calls by German economy and labor minister Wolfgang Clement for the European Central Bank to intervene or ease European interest rates after the softer Ifo business data.

DealerDaveT - 26 Feb 2004 11:34 - 548 of 11056

how low before bounce, all research says cable shouldnt be falling

DealerDaveT - 26 Feb 2004 11:35 - 549 of 11056

and euro which is supposed to be falling is edging up

hilary - 26 Feb 2004 11:47 - 550 of 11056

Sorry Guys, I don't mean to sound condescending, but why are you trying to long something which is falling? It broke the 2/3 day rising support line yesterday afternoon .... surely that was the cue to exit your longs and go short and stay in the position for the time being.

DealerDaveT - 26 Feb 2004 11:55 - 551 of 11056

Dealer Dave,

I use www.forex-markets.com. Click on "File" and then "Launch Duplicate Chart" which will open a full sized chart in a new window. You can then draw lines, change symbols, change timeframes, add indicators, etc.
