Hi problems installing router :-

I installed the software for voyager 2091 ADSL router and BT voyager 1055 usb 2.0 Adaptor and wired up the router as described however cannot seem to connect to the internet.

Should I have installed the adaptor usb and should I have uninstalled my existing broadband connection, if I don't use the usb do I just use an Ethernet connection. Seemed simple but there you go.

Kayak - 04 Jan 2007 16:07 - 5332 of 11003

Were you using a USB modem previously? In which case uninstall it and plug the router straight into the Ethernet. There is no reason to go via USB and it will be slower. Also set IE connection options to 'never dial a connection'.

Has anyone any experience of using a booster with their router? Are they worth getting?
I run a Belkin 54G and my PC is about 40 feet and 2 solid walls away. My signal strength is so low I lose the signal every few minutes.
The booster is about 100, but will it help, or is there another remedy.
Thanks in advance,
Alan

Does anyone have any experience of Speedupmypc? I came across it while searching for info on CIDAEMON.

H.

" or is there another remedy."

I use those jobbies that relay a signal through your ring mains. Mine is a Devolo but there are lots of other brands at broadbandbuyer.

Simple and reliable.

Trying to copy old VHS videos to DVD, using a scart to scart connection, and it's coming through in black and white (Copying from my VHS recorder to my Liteon HDD DVD recorder). Any ideas?

Kayak - 08 Jan 2007 00:39 - 5339 of 11003

Probably a mismatch between S-VHS and VHS, both ends need to supply and receive the same type of signal.

Seymour Clearly - 08 Jan 2007 06:50 - 5340 of 11003

Thanks Kayak, the Tape is definitely only VHS. Anyway, having looked at the various websites, it seems that it's far more satisfactory to copy to the PC first then make the DVD after editing on the PC - I'd still like to be able to copy directly really though.

Why doesn't my stock watch work?

Please help, before my P.C. dies a painful death.

IanT(MoneyAM) - 08 Jan 2007 09:42 - 5342 of 11003

KEAYDIAN,

Can you tell me what is happening when you try to access it?

Ian

SC. I'm about to buy a combi vhs/dvd for exactly that task (Panasonic DMR-EZ45V). I've tried various methods of copying tape to dvd without any real success.
Perhaps it's better to buy new porn? :-)

KEAYDIAN - 08 Jan 2007 10:00 - 5344 of 11003

It goes to the stockwatch screen but without showing any stocks, just the usual links to Moneyam at the top of the page.

I think it's just my P.C. having a go slow day Ian, as my email isn't working that great as well.

I know........now where did I put that baseball bat.

IanT(MoneyAM) - 08 Jan 2007 10:02 - 5345 of 11003

KEAYDIAN,

Sounds like your PC is struggling to load up the applet. YOu may want to try reloading the Java Plugin, which you can download from the following link:

Ian as your on this thread - I've been taken back to the login screen about a dozen times today?

IanT(MoneyAM) - 08 Jan 2007 10:10 - 5347 of 11003

skinny,

I have had a few reports of this - seems like some update has run (probably windows) which has knocked out the allow session cookies option. It may be that either your browser or your firewall is blocking the cookie. To change this in your browser do the following:

1. click on tools, and then internet options
2. click on privacy and then advanced
3. put a tick next to override automatic cookie handling and then put a tick next to allow session cookies - click ok on both boxes

Try restarting your machine and try again. If this does not work you will need to look at the same settings in your firewall.

Funny that Ian.

I'm was instructed to download new updates yesterday which had something to do with Java.

I've rebouted the PC, seems to be bebhaving at the moment, might be due to the baseball bat leaning against the desk.

Thanks for the link.

Thanks Ian.

getting in a pickle here with Outlook. I need to look up some dates in 2004 and 2005. I'm assuming old Calendar items are in archieve somewhere - they've dropped off current dispaly from Dec 05. The online help says I should have an archieve folder which I don't. I do have a large Outlook .pst file in windows but trying to open this gives a windows cannot open message and outlook doesn't appear in the "open with" menu despite the lookup option saying it is an outlook file. Any advice gratefully reveived.
