How to profit from Betting Exchanges (BEX)

How would you like to trade a market where you get large regular price swings every 10 minutes in the afternoon, seven days a week. A
market where all prices are set purely by supply and demand, few transaction costs, no middle men and you only pay commission if you win? Where you can freely act as a market maker and where you have direct market access and where you can create a spread for others to take?

Betfair has revolutionised the betting market and created an open platform for exchanging risk on sports events. This market is now viewed much more like a traditional financial risk market than an old fashioned betting market. Smart users have realised that there are huge opportunities on Betfair because they can buy and sell risk in much the same way they would in a normal financial market but without the burden of cost or the restricted access that is usually associated with traditional financial markets.

Just as well I didn't get to start my scalping mission. Time to sit on my hands instead.

Inter laying siege to the Roma goal - wonderful game of football (flixking between this and the barca game).

If nothing else has come from trading the football, i get to watch a much wider range of games rather than just the english games (as i used to)

Fundamentalist - 28 Oct 2005 15:51 - 5361 of 10502

Afternoon all

Made the mistake of trying to trade 2 sports at once this afternoon - had a shocker on the horses but having a field day on the cricket

Harlosh - 28 Oct 2005 16:25 - 5362 of 10502

I'm off to watch Simply Red at the MEN with a munch in the Yum Yum first so no trading for me for the rest of the day.

Good luck with the cricket Steve.

Fundamentalist - 28 Oct 2005 16:35 - 5363 of 10502

Have a good night John

Re the cricket - I sold the spread on SA runs at 258 - theyve got 172 with 4 overs to go - and at 20 a point :-)))

bakko - 28 Oct 2005 16:57 - 5364 of 10502

Well done Steve!

John, Enjoy the Simply Red do tonight. Yum Yum again! You must love the place.

Been having a go at the horses today and got 12/12 with an outrageous win on one race. So a good day here too.

Fundamentalist - 28 Oct 2005 17:03 - 5365 of 10502

Bak

Well done on the horses - unlike you to be trading them when there is tennis on!

I was 0/3 on the horses - just goes to show what happens when not fully focussed!!!

Still won 57 points on the cricket spread and a lump laying 225 or more at 1.5/1.6 and still got the second innings to come :-)
