I had written a longer reply but have filed it.

It is obvious that there are some disgruntle individuals or groups in an organisation as big as the EU.

(Listen to a program, this morning on an interview of somebody who wanted to change to the "driving" regulations relating to cars passing bikes on the roads in England. I thought it only needed common sense on both sides, ie, motorists and cyclists, until one realised that in case of damage, prosecution and recompensation for damages and somebody has to make the decisions.)

When one feels offended it is always the other who gets blamed.

I feel it would be more sensible to remain in the club and negotiate by persuasion rather than attempting diktat, for changes or Rules and Regulations which are sensible and necessary.

I have 4 daughters, all of whom have worked or work in various EU countries and Canada, America and Australia and they have always had friendly and helpful acceptance in those countries and only had friendly nationalistic "banter".

One has a PhD in Marine Biology MSc etc. and thinks the fishing regulations are reasonable and justifiable attempt to maintain "fishing fields". Applications of the rules are not so good. The fault of all countries concerned.

Another daughter has a PhD and MSc etc. working for Home Office and was travelling back and fore to Brussels examining, investigating and trying to draw up rules and regulations to resolve the "immigration" problems.

She refers to it as a constant headache, but they are trying.

But again to resolve the "immigration" needs action by the many,not the few.

If we have or benefit from the countries who have the "problems", we have a responsibility to them.

Again it will end in negotiation.

however, it is interesting to note that this bratislava conference (suddenly) has immigration high on its list and that one of the "big grey suits" talks of grave concerns about the amount and depth of dissatisfaction with the eu structure across the whole eurozone ...... i'm sure i haven't distorted that

The EU is evolving.

Dissatisfactions and immigration problems were already recognised and being addressed in the backrooms of the EU.

But unlike the previous UK government, those considering the problems realise that there is no immediate rush to the media with ill-thought out plans.

Of course, if you have a practical and plausible solution I will be happy to read it.

i have no idea how things will pan out, but personally i am very certain that uk's vote to leave has been very much a catalyst in waking the eu plutocrats from their slumber .... certainly brexit has galavanised the widespread opposition to the way eu is currently being run

There has not been a reduction in fishing in BRITISH waters, the fishing rights
have been allocated to other countries from the EU, British fisherman have had
their quota's cut, and the wastes have been atrocious, when the fish caught have
been the wrong size or not the species licensed to catch, which are thrown back
into the sea whether they're dead or alive, mostly dead.
