Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).
Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.
cheers GF.

Manuel,
Even if you have met a few doctors, perhaps some who should have being practicing medicine rather than golf, remember that even if you mix with geniuses you will still remain an idiot.
Secondly, as you are one who espouses his knowledge of the health service that you refresh your memory and read the 1966-7 Salmon report and after that start reading the reforms proposed by Enoch Powell.
Then with a little help you can consider the effects and after-effects of those proposals.
Many saw the problems which "might" and "did" arise, when those proposals were made and the methods they would be introduced.
Also, look at later changes during the Maggie Thatcher period and their legacy, of crazy ill-thought out proposals and method of introduction.
Then, perhaps, you may see how the "ethos" in "medicine and allied professions" changed and good will was lost.
But of course you would prefer to shoot your mouth off on something once again based on little real knowledge.
Evolution is necessary, but constant revolution is generally destructive.
--------
Have a better year.

David Cameron still more trusted on NHS than Ed Miliband, survey shows
Voters still trust David Cameron more than Ed Miliband on the NHS, despite Labour having made the health service the main focus of its campaigning since the summer, a survey shows.
The ComRes poll shows that 22% say the prime minister is the party leader they most trust to manage the NHS, while 20% name the Labour leader.

i wonder if you're right, for certainly you can't use the word champagne or even stilton for anything made outside the area

Go to a local respected butcher with a reputation for making good stamp pies.
And dont be fooled if they are competition winners the pies they put out for customers are no way as good as the pies they make for medals.

Still dont think they have a copyright, just think others copy them with it being such a well established name.

so gobmeister-fred, having given us lots of ancient history from your inestimable font of knowledge on almost everything, what is your solution for sorting out the NHS, let's say within 5 years .... after all, you keep telling us how 4 years should have been plenty, so with an extra year you should be able to save the world

went to the shop many many years ago, but it doesn't answer the question as to whether "melton mowbray pies" have to be made within the area .... your extract rather implies that they do - ie rthe name "melton mowbray pies" is protected by the DOC laws, or whatever they are called

Cyners at some time in the NHS we are going to have to pay a small % of the total cost I feel just like in dentistry and prescriptions.
It will have to be means tested but the poor should be exempt and the rich shouldnt be taken for granted.
I honestly cant see any other way now.
But the last thing I want is the NHS being privatised.
FAIR FOR ALL.
