How to profit from Betting Exchanges (BEX)

How would you like to trade a market where you get large regular price swings every 10 minutes in the afternoon, seven days a week. A
market where all prices are set purely by supply and demand, few transaction costs, no middle men and you only pay commission if you win? Where you can freely act as a market maker and where you have direct market access and where you can create a spread for others to take?

Betfair has revolutionised the betting market and created an open platform for exchanging risk on sports events. This market is now viewed much more like a traditional financial risk market than an old fashioned betting market. Smart users have realised that there are huge opportunities on Betfair because they can buy and sell risk in much the same way they would in a normal financial market but without the burden of cost or the restricted access that is usually associated with traditional financial markets.

1/5 it still wins. Some big volume on the US racing. I'm still waiting for the day I can trade 24 hours a day tonight is a taster!

this is the biggest meet in the world!!!

As you can tell im more punting than trading and i have a place and a winner from my 2 bets so far :-)

Keeps race in the stewards (im slightly surprised - they throw a lot more out over in the states than here)

If trading it is worth keeping an eye on the US tote prices as they can give an idea as to which horses may be over or under priced.

Singletary ew in the Mile

Fundamentalist - 29 Oct 2005 20:49 - 5415 of 10502

Backed singletary at 10.5, almost tempted to lay it off at 8.0 now :-)

Fundamentalist - 29 Oct 2005 20:51 - 5416 of 10502

Taken my stake back out at 7.6

Fundamentalist - 29 Oct 2005 21:18 - 5417 of 10502

small ew in the gold in the distaff - singletary was nowhere

Scripophilist - 29 Oct 2005 21:25 - 5418 of 10502

I don't rate the coverage much. I am making some good money but the commentators and directors keep cutting away from the course and I can't tell how close they are to the off.

Scripophilist - 29 Oct 2005 21:30 - 5420 of 10502

Pleasant home at 100/1!!

Scripophilist - 29 Oct 2005 21:31 - 5421 of 10502

There is lots of coverage so I have been switching around a bit. I'll switch to 432 and see how I get on.

Scripophilist - 29 Oct 2005 21:32 - 5422 of 10502

Steve is there any decent web site available where I can read up on race types and the like. I know a group 1 is better than a group 3 etc but I want more detail and how horses are graded and the structure of the competition and so on.

not sure of any site which would give the general view i think you are looking for though on a daily basis the racing post site is probably as good as any

alternatively there must be some info provided by the BHB with regard to handicapping and the like which may be of some use

Backed azamour in the turf

Scripophilist - 29 Oct 2005 22:00 - 5424 of 10502

If Shake the bank wins I will make about 10k! LOL!

But I understand he is only a pacemaker so it would be astonishing if it did win.

Fundamentalist - 29 Oct 2005 22:01 - 5425 of 10502

Scrip

yes a pacemaker but actually is a decent group 3 level horse but should be way out of depth here - only 54-1 in the US tho

Fundamentalist - 29 Oct 2005 22:03 - 5426 of 10502

Didnt want to see azamour playing up going into the stalls :-(

Scripophilist - 29 Oct 2005 22:03 - 5427 of 10502

Will lay of some of it in play if he gets a decent run.

Fundamentalist - 29 Oct 2005 22:04 - 5428 of 10502
