Megabucks, are you into Fixed Odds Betting?

Mega Bucks - 13 Apr 2006 16:09 - 5417 of 11056

klal, its my main way of trading these days, should have started doing it a few years back !!!

klal - 13 Apr 2006 16:33 - 5418 of 11056

Fixed Odds Betting is certainly a very interesting way of trading. Especially like the way the risk is limited. Looks reasonably possible to make decent returns with some sensible bets. Yep, I too wish I had known about this much, much earlier!

Mega Bucks - 13 Apr 2006 16:34 - 5419 of 11056

Do you trade that way or just thinking about it ???

klal - 13 Apr 2006 16:45 - 5420 of 11056

Actively trading with a live BOM account. So far, so good. Limited to barrier bets on FTSE. Will move into forex bets in a few weeks time.

Mega Bucks - 13 Apr 2006 16:48 - 5421 of 11056

Have a barrier on FTSE to 6277-5750 closing on the 18th,triggers at 5780 and 6250,and looking good :-)

klal - 13 Apr 2006 17:02 - 5422 of 11056

Hmmm...I've got one for the 18th too....6192 - 5790 with an 18% payout. Also looking good! Working on safe barrier levels for Cable before I start trading it.

Mega Bucks - 13 Apr 2006 17:07 - 5423 of 11056

Also have DAX S&P NAS INDU and also looking good, prehaps we should start a thread :-)

klal - 13 Apr 2006 17:12 - 5424 of 11056

I was just thinking that...! (great minds and all that!)

Mega Bucks - 13 Apr 2006 17:13 - 5425 of 11056

Trouble is what would you call it ???

klal - 13 Apr 2006 17:21 - 5426 of 11056

FO Traders Thread? (Careful with the "FO" bit! LOL)

Mega Bucks - 13 Apr 2006 17:26 - 5427 of 11056

Will get it up and running over the weekend using that title :-))Have a great weekend and dont get to p***ed up !!!

klal - 13 Apr 2006 17:40 - 5428 of 11056

Thanks Mega... will certainly contribute on the new thread. See ya next week.

rpaco - 15 Apr 2006 12:45 - 5429 of 11056

How about the BOM thread, I assume that's who you are using. If not please tell me who. I am annoyed at their recent lengthening of the odds and calling it their commission. I hope you wrote and complained too, I don't mind paying up to 10%commission on a win.

What period do you guy bet over normally on Barrier bets?
I have been fairly successful with 10 day One touch bets and Intraday on FTSE and Fiber. But introducing a spread into the up/down bets has cost me.

I'm a bit surprised you professionals bother with barrier bets.

klal - 15 Apr 2006 14:11 - 5430 of 11056

rpaco, me no professional :-( In fact, I've just got into this thing. As for why barrier bets, I understand they can be very safe if you choose your levels well. I go for 10 day (working days, that is) bets and prefer smaller but nearly guaranteed returns (compounding and that kinda thing..!)

As for naming the thread - I doubt if naming it after the service provider would be a good thing. Surely MAM would have objections over it.

Mega Bucks - 15 Apr 2006 14:16 - 5431 of 11056

Me thinks it will be call Fixed Odds Traders Thread, will try and get a thread going for tuesday.

I hope this isn't going to turn into a problem.

I've just gone to print my calendar for next week (which MM has already done here) and I've noticed that they have moved the FX Power Charts on the Daily FX website from a folder called "fxpowerchart" to a folder called "charts". The move seems to have caused all of the stored settings to be lost. Presumably the settings were stored in a cookie somewhere, but I can't even find the cookie in question.

At the moment it looks like I'm going to have to re-input of all my settings again, unless anyone here has got any ideas??????????? I guess there must be others here in the same boat even if they don't realise it yet.

MightyMicro - 15 Apr 2006 18:58 - 5433 of 11056

Hil:

They seem to have restructured things such that the pathnames on the site are relative -- gave me a bit of a fright on Friday, not to say a headache reconstructing it. Very cavalier of them to treat it as though it's their site to do as they wish with.

I didn't realize they'd screwed other things up, though. Somebody new maintaining the site, perhaps.

Harlosh - 17 Apr 2006 22:32 - 5434 of 11056

I see what you mean Hilary. Very inconvenient to say the least.

MightyMicro - 17 Apr 2006 22:45 - 5435 of 11056

Hil, Harlosh and any others affected by the Dailyfx website changes -- may I suggest that you email Kathy Lien (klien@dailyfx.com) about your problems -- she was very helpful to me the last time that they screwed up.
