Referendum : to be in Europe or not to be ?, that is the question ! (REF)

required field - 03 Feb 2016 10:00

Thought I'd start a new thread as this is going to be a major talking point this year...have not made up my mind yet...(unlike bucksfizz)....but thinking of voting for an exit as Europe is not doing Britain any good at all it seems....

iturama - 20 Sep 2016 09:55 - 5434 of 12628

Back to business. I like the tone of the Lilley article which has solutions rather than problems. I'm not qualified to say he is right except it is better to go ahead and be firm and let the commission react, rather than dither and try to negotiate with someone who is deliberately intent on making matters difficult. Guy Verhofstadt is no friend of the UK and how can you be serious with a 63 year-old that continues to comb his hair over his brow like a schoolboy?
Better to tell him what we are going to do and let him upset the car makers, flower sellers and farmers of Europe.

It,

You shouldn't talk about Boris like that.

VICTIM - 20 Sep 2016 10:02 - 5437 of 12628

I said you were a wind up merchant .

MaxK - 20 Sep 2016 10:04 - 5438 of 12628

Winding up is what Fred does best!

VICTIM - 20 Sep 2016 10:06 - 5439 of 12628

Well he does it .

cynic - 20 Sep 2016 10:07 - 5440 of 12628

MaxK - 20 Sep 2016 10:18 - 5441 of 12628

Fred1new - 20 Sep 2016 11:45 - 5442 of 12628

VICTIM - 20 Sep 2016 12:06 - 5443 of 12628

Cuckoo , Cuckoo , Cuckoo .

grannyboy - 20 Sep 2016 12:15 - 5444 of 12628

The Peter Lilley article is quite correct, as i've said on numerous occasions
previously, the EU will lose more then the UK will, and the UK needs to invoke
article 50 as soon as possible to put pressure on before the French/German
elections start next year, and the pound stays low....

Dil - 23 Sep 2016 09:14 - 5445 of 12628

Remainers still moaning and groaning on Question Time yesterday and now claiming they respect the wishes of the public but should be another referendum on the deal we negotiate to leave.

Not going to happen.

cynic - 23 Sep 2016 09:28 - 5446 of 12628

the peter lilley article is certainly very interesting, but it should not be forgotten that it comes from a very partisan angle
that by no means voids the points he is making, but nor should they be taken as being empirical ..... indeed, they are "best guess" albeit that pl is sincere

Fred1new - 23 Sep 2016 10:03 - 5447 of 12628

Dil,

Like the 1975 referendum?

-=-==

Manuel.

I like buying something when I don't know the price.

Good business sense.

I suppose it is alright when somebody else is going to pay the bill.

cynic - 23 Sep 2016 10:48 - 5448 of 12628

you didn't know the price had the referendum gone the other way ..... you just rather imagined you did :-)

2517GEORGE - 23 Sep 2016 11:19 - 5449 of 12628

3 months today, the sky hasn't fallen in yet, house prices haven't plummeted, interest rates haven't rocketed and unemployment hasn't shot up. There were so many 'experts' promising all the above, I wonder how they became 'experts', so many of them got it completely wrong some are even back-tracking now.

cynic - 23 Sep 2016 11:26 - 5450 of 12628

imo we are still in for some very lumpy times over the next 2/3 years
world economics may dictate otherwise, but those sure need to improve significantly

VICTIM - 23 Sep 2016 11:33 - 5451 of 12628

They didn't get it wrong George , they deliberately misled . imo .

2517GEORGE - 23 Sep 2016 11:53 - 5452 of 12628

cynic you are right of course, I think most of us 'leavers' said as much at the time.

Vicky, misleading people so that's what they are expert at is it, well they were pretty rubbish at that as well.

Fred1new - 23 Sep 2016 12:06 - 5453 of 12628

2517,

Over what period were the promises made for?

Also, was the devaluation of sterling a generous hand to bolster the UK economy and a show of confidence?

Just wondering!
