THE TALK TO YOURSELF THREAD. (NOWT)

goldfinger - 09 Jun 2005 12:25

Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).

Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.

cheers GF.

Well we know what he is already!

MaxK - 05 Jan 2015 19:47 - 54346 of 81564

Well, Cameroon will throttle Millibandus, and the others will nail Cameroon.

I can quite understand why he doesent want to do a debate.

cynic - 05 Jan 2015 19:52 - 54347 of 81564

sorry to interrupt the tinnitus-inducing political droning, but try commenting on something a bit more pertinent ....

affordable housing
prefabs were built with such an idea in mind, with an expected life expectancy of perhaps 10 years .... some lasted 50+

the modern alternative is or could be dry freight boxes

these are already used for site office and living accommodation
even when new, these boxes only cost about £1500, and are a fraction of that if 2nd-hand
you now have your sound basic structure that will last at least as long as predicted for a prefab
they can easily be insulated and made more than adequately comfortable
they don't need foundations
they can be stacked up to 6 high - 3 high would be more than enough
they can be put on brownfield sites with the minimum of fuss
on brownfield sites, basic facilities will often already be in place

job done!

doodlebug4 - 05 Jan 2015 20:14 - 54348 of 81564

Why don't you start your own thread cynic if you find this one so boring.I don't find it fascinating to read your posts about where you bought your various Christmas presents, or which pies you like etc.,etc. What might seem more pertinent to you personally might be boring to others!

Haystack - 05 Jan 2015 20:15 - 54349 of 81564

I hope Farage doesn't take part in the debates. I don't want there to be any more outlets for his nonsense. I see him as NF or BNP trying to get power on the sly. A thoroughly dangerous person.

cynic - 05 Jan 2015 20:20 - 54350 of 81564

just as i don't bother to read 99% of the political polemic posted here, no one obliges you to read my much shorter and less frequent posts

but as i know you're really excited about this subject, i'll explain why i posted about my on line christmas shopping ....
it was primarily triggered in response to sticky's earlier observations about JL's christmas sales figures, which i am sure you read most studiously

or perhaps you'ld care to exercise your few grey cells on the subject of affordable housing .....
or can you not think of anything disparaging to say about that?

Haystack - 05 Jan 2015 20:24 - 54351 of 81564

I like cynic's posts. He is a breath of sanity here. This thread should be mor of a mix of topics and not just politics. I must say that I also bought all Xmas presents online, including crackers, wrapping paper, IPhone, tablet, new corkscrew, books, new bed for spare room, duvet, pillows and lots besides. I hardly ever buy from real shops.

doodlebug4 - 05 Jan 2015 20:28 - 54352 of 81564

Why don't you and sticky start your own love-in thread. It isn't rocket science to appreciate that online sales are making a huge impact on high street store sales - whether it's John Lewis, Next, Marks etc.

doodlebug4 - 05 Jan 2015 20:32 - 54353 of 81564

I agree that the thread should be a mix of topics Haystack, but cynic is always whinging when he doesn't want to contribute to a particular debate. He must be a lot of fun at a dinner party.

cynic - 05 Jan 2015 20:32 - 54354 of 81564

do try engaging your brain
you're not even good at attempted put-downs

doodlebug4 - 05 Jan 2015 20:37 - 54355 of 81564

Well try this for a put down - I think you are a boring pain in the butt and since you couldn't figure out how the FLYBE online booking system worked, you are not even a particularly intelligent pain in the butt!

Haystack - 05 Jan 2015 20:43 - 54356 of 81564

oooooooooh!

Haystack - 05 Jan 2015 20:45 - 54357 of 81564

Contrary to my political aliegances, I shall be voting Lib this year. I live in a marginal Lib constituency that has Labour running a close second.

cynic - 05 Jan 2015 20:46 - 54358 of 81564

saucer of milk for table 4 ..... miaow miaow

perhaps i should ask why flybe is performing so badly relative to IAG and EZJ, but not worth the effort

doodlebug4 - 05 Jan 2015 21:02 - 54359 of 81564

Pity you didn't buy into FLYB when it was 52p cynic.Never mind old bean.

cynic - 05 Jan 2015 21:16 - 54360 of 81564

pity you don't know when to take a profit, like at ~145 but just let a big slab of profit fritter away..... never mind old bean

anyway, you keep practicing that sarcasm, because you sure need to improve

Fred1new - 05 Jan 2015 21:19 - 54361 of 81564

Napoleon.

An advancement on your prefab "brain child", would be I suggest that you to test one of the boxes for yourself, preferably you locked from the outside and gently floated down the Thames.

Think of it a a fitting end for you and at least it may relieve your misery of watching Miliband win the March election.

cynic - 05 Jan 2015 21:28 - 54362 of 81564

hahaha!
in fact, these boxes (20' or 40') are a tried and trusted form of temporary accommodation
i also saw a brilliant and imaginative conversion that was televised perhaps a couple of months back

doodlebug4 - 05 Jan 2015 21:28 - 54363 of 81564

I made a nice profit on FLYB cynic, despite your best efforts to trash the company and my various posts along the way.

cynic - 05 Jan 2015 21:36 - 54364 of 81564

in honesty fred, though both major party leaders are truly dreadful, i'ld rather see an outright win of any hue rather than the awful wishy-washy, badly hung parliament that is the most likely outcome
