Thought I'd start a new thread as this is going to be a major talking point this year...have not made up my mind yet...(unlike bucksfizz)....but thinking of voting for an exit as Europe is not doing Britain any good at all it seems....

The Peter Lilley article is quite correct, as i've said on numerous occasions
previously, the EU will lose more then the UK will, and the UK needs to invoke
article 50 as soon as possible to put pressure on before the French/German
elections start next year, and the pound stays low....

Remainers still moaning and groaning on Question Time yesterday and now claiming they respect the wishes of the public but should be another referendum on the deal we negotiate to leave.
Not going to happen.

the peter lilley article is certainly very interesting, but it should not be forgotten that it comes from a very partisan angle
that by no means voids the points he is making, but nor should they be taken as being empirical ..... indeed, they are "best guess" albeit that pl is sincere

Dil,
Like the 1975 referendum?

Manuel.
I like buying something when I don't know the price.
Good business sense.
I suppose it is alright when somebody else is going to pay the bill.

you didn't know the price had the referendum gone the other way ..... you just rather imagined you did :-)

3 months today, the sky hasn't fallen in yet, house prices haven't plummeted, interest rates haven't rocketed and unemployment hasn't shot up. There were so many 'experts' promising all the above, I wonder how they became 'experts', so many of them got it completely wrong some are even back-tracking now.

imo we are still in for some very lumpy times over the next 2/3 years
world economics may dictate otherwise, but those sure need to improve significantly

cynic you are right of course, I think most of us 'leavers' said as much at the time.
Vicky, misleading people so that's what they are expert at is it, well they were pretty rubbish at that as well.

2517,
Over what period were the promises made for?
Also, was the devaluation of sterling a generous hand to bolster the UK economy and a show of confidence?
Just wondering!

the market devalued £ and nothing else
personally, i have thought € over-valued for years and still very much think so
eurozone economies are in a truly awful state
