THE TALK TO YOURSELF THREAD. (NOWT)

goldfinger - 09 Jun 2005 12:25

Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).

Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.

cheers GF.

Cameron won't do debates as configured. If UKIP are in debate then he wants the Greens. He sees UKIP as a rival and the Greens as a rival to Labour so including both would be fair. If not then he will not attend.

cynic - 08 Jan 2015 16:42 - 54623 of 81564

crappy excuse for greens barely register
however, incumbent is always likely to be on a hiding to nothing, but sometimes a man's gotta do what a man's gotta do

Fred1new - 08 Jan 2015 16:42 - 54624 of 81564

He is weaving and ducking.

He has taken fright of Wee Alex.

Majority will see him a brass necked coward, the icon of the torrid party!

Fred1new - 08 Jan 2015 16:44 - 54625 of 81564

Ps.

He can't hide behind Angela skirts.

She wears trousers.

8-}

cynic - 08 Jan 2015 16:48 - 54626 of 81564

perhaps he could hide up wee eck's kilt ..... could then prove the story or otherwise

Fred1new - 08 Jan 2015 16:53 - 54627 of 81564

I hope Alex will have eaten a bowl of Ham and Bean soup.

Haystack - 08 Jan 2015 16:57 - 54628 of 81564

Cameron has said that he is also just as happy for there to be no debates.

Fred1new - 08 Jan 2015 17:04 - 54629 of 81564

What is he wishing to hide from?

doodlebug4 - 08 Jan 2015 17:17 - 54630 of 81564

He isn't hiding from anything Fred, these TV debates are an utter waste of time and prove nothing. If you remember during the last session of TV debates Nick Clegg was reputedly Joe public's darling and look what a little weasel he has turned out to be. If you watched the press conference yesterday with Cameron and Merkel do you honestly think for one minute that Miliband could be so articulate and assured in such circumstances?

cynic - 08 Jan 2015 17:23 - 54631 of 81564

TV debates are an utter waste of time and prove nothing

wouldn't disagree, except unfortunately or not, political leaders are judged as much by their image and presentation as the content of their policies and performance ...... michael foot and ronnie reagan are classics at opposite ends of that spectrum

Fred1new - 08 Jan 2015 17:39 - 54632 of 81564

I would like to see Cameron without loaded question and speaking "off the cuff" and especially with the wee laddy.

But I suppose he was picked as a PR man and has to have his mantras off by heart!

Strange how he wanted TV debates when in opposition.

cynic - 08 Jan 2015 17:51 - 54633 of 81564

of course one does in opposition for one can rattle and rubbish to your heart's content and have little or nothing to lose

MaxK - 08 Jan 2015 17:58 - 54634 of 81564

If Cameroon ducks the debates, they will carry on without him, and that will be the end of the conservative party as a force capable of winning an election.

He has no choice in the matter, if he dosent turn up, he will be rightly judged as a shitbox who cant fight his corner.

Fred1new - 08 Jan 2015 18:00 - 54635 of 81564

No.

Never thought of that.

You mean he is all mouth and no trews!

Fred1new - 08 Jan 2015 18:01 - 54636 of 81564

Max,

Do you mean he will go up in some people's opinion.

MaxK - 08 Jan 2015 18:02 - 54637 of 81564

lol Fred :-)

doodlebug4 - 08 Jan 2015 18:06 - 54638 of 81564

MaxK if your comments in post 54637 are correct then I despair of the stupidity of the majority of the general public in this country!

MaxK - 08 Jan 2015 18:14 - 54639 of 81564

Why is that db4?

Do you think we should just go back to actors on tele spouting promises about what any party will do if voted in?

Whats wrong with seeing the people who want your vote speak and defend their policy/promises?

And who better to investigate/examine said promises than their opposite numbers?

doodlebug4 - 08 Jan 2015 18:29 - 54640 of 81564

Max, I just think we will get the same old, same old, party political broadcast type guff in any televised debate. The various "contestants" don't answer any relevant questions posed by the opposition and what would be any different to the PMQ debates which usually end up in slanging matches? We have four months now until the GE, so hopefully all the parties will put forward their various policies through various media channels and we can make a decision on the basis of policies as well as personalities.

Stan - 08 Jan 2015 18:31 - 54641 of 81564

As a long standing "Dave" supporter... as you know I am so upset at the very thought that some of you think he is just a Blair type PR man -):
