THE TALK TO YOURSELF THREAD. (NOWT)

goldfinger - 09 Jun 2005 12:25

Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).

Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.

cheers GF.

Why is that db4?

Do you think we should just go back to actors on tele spouting promises about what any party will do if voted in?

Whats wrong with seeing the people who want your vote speak and defend their policy/promises?

And who better to investigate/examine said promises than their opposite numbers?

doodlebug4 - 08 Jan 2015 18:29 - 54640 of 81564

Max, I just think we will get the same old, same old, party political broadcast type guff in any televised debate. The various "contestants" don't answer any relevant questions posed by the opposition and what would be any different to the PMQ debates which usually end up in slanging matches? We have four months now until the GE, so hopefully all the parties will put forward their various policies through various media channels and we can make a decision on the basis of policies as well as personalities.

As a long standing "Dave" supporter... as you know I am so upset at the very thought that some of you think he is just a Blair type PR man -):

Haystack - 08 Jan 2015 18:31 - 54642 of 81564

I think Cameron is right. If UKIP is there then so should the silly Green party. They can't be worse than the silly UKIP party. Neither the Greens nor UKIP are proper mainstream parties as will be seen at the GE.

Stan - 08 Jan 2015 18:38 - 54643 of 81564

Leave Dave alone he's doing a fine job I tell ya.

doodlebug4 - 08 Jan 2015 18:39 - 54644 of 81564

Stan - :-) Blair did manage to fool most of the people most of the time, myself included on occasions!

MaxK - 08 Jan 2015 18:40 - 54645 of 81564

Ofcom doesent agree with you, ukip got too many votes in the €uro elections.

"Ofcom said it believed Ukip, which topped the poll in last year’s Euro-elections and won two parliamentary by-elections, should be added to the major party list."

If you had your way, there would never ever be a new party.

And what of the SNP? Wee-Eck will tear Dave a new asshole..hehe :-)

Fred1new - 08 Jan 2015 18:42 - 54646 of 81564

dB4 and Haze,

Do you always back losers?

====----

Once reason for TV debates is that the cons and confederates have bought and corrupted the largest percentage of the Media and at least on tv there would be exposure for the smaller parties.

I " believe" Cameron and cohorts have been donated £64 million to attempt to buy the voters.

I wouldn't say that is for future favours and not in the interest of all in the UK, but many would.

But money talks and corrupts.

Haystack - 08 Jan 2015 18:43 - 54647 of 81564

Ofcom's comments are just that. They are advisory and not regulatory. If the TV channels want Greens then they can have them.

doodlebug4 - 08 Jan 2015 18:53 - 54648 of 81564

Fred, I never back losers especially obvious losers! You are letting your heart rule your head, which is always a recipe for disaster.

BBC television doesn't appear to have been bought by the Conservatives, or have I missed something in the last 20 years. Supposed to be unbiased? What a laugh that corporation is.

Stan - 08 Jan 2015 18:58 - 54649 of 81564

Talking of corruption, hows the child abuse cover ups going these days with this Government?

MaxK - 08 Jan 2015 19:19 - 54650 of 81564

Much the same as with the last government Stan.

doodlebug4 - 08 Jan 2015 19:21 - 54651 of 81564

Too many people arguing over the various issues of panels and the enquiry Stan, including the victims themselves. I think perhaps they need to appoint someone from another country to conduct the enquiry.

Haystack - 08 Jan 2015 20:11 - 54652 of 81564

Maybe a prominent person from the Commonwealth such as Canada. A major UK scientist with a legal advisor might be good. The NASA challenger enquiry had Richard Feynman on the panel and he to nd the cause despite attempts to sidetrack him.

I would guess that the three main parties are not keen to have the enquiry this side of the GE. It appears that there may be major politicians involved from all three parties.

goldfinger - 08 Jan 2015 20:45 - 54653 of 81564

Camoron is ducking debates because Clegg and Brown yes Brown both gave him an hiding last time 5 years ago.

He doesnt have his army behind him in the TV studios he cant lie or mislead like he does at PMQs and get away with it without being picked off, and we all know hes a poor debater whos using the Greens as an excuse.

His party know this as does Linton Crosby who as advised him to keep well away from the TV debates.

Haystack - 08 Jan 2015 20:50 - 54654 of 81564

Brown was useless last time.

cynic - 08 Jan 2015 20:52 - 54655 of 81564

sticky - rather than wasting your time on this thread, i'ld be interested to hear your views on halfords which took a nasty tumble today
my view is that it was badly overdone

doodlebug4 - 08 Jan 2015 20:58 - 54656 of 81564

Brown gave him a good hiding - and who lost the last GE?

required field - 08 Jan 2015 21:08 - 54657 of 81564

Aldwickk.....no I cannot predict shares up or down ......just try and guess them....but I do have nighttime premonition dreams and daytime terrible feelings about terrible events now and again....how ?...why..?.. I don't know...it just happens....

Fred1new - 08 Jan 2015 21:13 - 54658 of 81564
