It's not me, I've never visited the site and probably never will. I like it here, the folks are just so charming and friendly. What's a "Greenday" holiday?

zarif - 29 Apr 2004 18:26 - 5483 of 23498

Socs -no idea what the greenday holiday is but i suppose any holiday is a holday.I think it is part of the so called golden days or something like that.

Kayak - 29 Apr 2004 21:19 - 5485 of 23498

April 29
Green Day (midori no hi):
Emperor Showa's birthday.

The Golden Week is a collection of four national holidays within seven days. In combination with well placed weekends, the Golden Week becomes one of Japan's three busiest holiday seasons, besides New Year and the Obon week.

Trains, airports and sightseeing spots get very crowded during Golden Week, and accommodation in tourist areas are booked out well in advance. Foreign visitors are advised to avoid traveling to Japan during the Golden Week.

The national holidays making up the Golden Week are:

April 29
Green Day (Midori no hi):
April 29 used to be the birthday of Emperor Showa who died in the year 1989. After his death, the day was changed into a national holiday for environment and nature since the emperor loved nature.

May 3
Constitution Day (Kenpo kinenbi):
On this day in 1947, the new post war constitution was put into effect.

May 4
"Between Day" (Kokumin no kyujitsu):
A recently introduced, national holiday to make the Golden Week a continuous holiday.

May 5
Children's Day (Kodomo no hi):
The Boy's Festival (Tango no Sekku) is celebrated on this day. Families pray for the health and future success of their sons by hanging up carp streamers and displaying samurai dolls, both symbolizing strength, power and success in life. The Girl's Festival, by the way, is celebrated on March 3.
In 2004, the weekends are favorably placed as shown below, and most people will be able to enjoy at least five continuous days off. This is likely to translate into a particularly busy Golden Week with regard to travel activities.

Maggot - 29 Apr 2004 22:31 - 5486 of 23498

I see in the Investment Game I am a little below our little willy. Looks Like, as usual, I'm going to be p*****d on from a great height!

Hi, Zarif. How are the new indicators going? Haven't been playing Forex so much recently as I can't seem to see a strong trend.

little willie - 29 Apr 2004 22:49 - 5487 of 23498

Maggot, suggest an umbrella as we're still in April so showers are a possibility and according to Kayak [above] golden rain is a distinct probability!!

Enjoy your new indicators; I prefer the old type where the whole illuminated amber arm came out of the side of the car.

Ho hum, orf to bed; night night all......

amberjane - 29 Apr 2004 23:46 - 5488 of 23498

Evening, now who mentioned my name?

Thought I'd step in and say 'Hi' as I'd been invited but you've all gone to bed!!! Just as well as I was invited for chocolate and I've had my 3 bars today (although I was very generous and shared ONE bar- and a gready gannet ((who u know but shall remain nameless at present)) stole the 2nd).

Now I know u dont know me yet so I can only assume that is why u (GD) didn't invite me to join in with the baby oil, of course you may also be greedy and have used it all?

I'm very much an evening drinker so I'm a bit worried some of you start sooo early, and so as not to get in bad habits I will NOT be joining any early birds and will finish my Baileys in a mo. Of course I may bump into some of you coming in as I'm leaving when I have my late lock ins, do u allow this?

Nity nite.

dotel - 29 Apr 2004 23:49 - 5489 of 23498

Thanks jj - I wouldn't have mentioned it, only I didn't want to miss the opportunity of a frothy rub. And, gd...very - up to the armpits. Opto were you seeing double this morning?

Socrates - 29 Apr 2004 23:58 - 5490 of 23498

Kayak

Thank you, a most interesting explanation. It's amazing what you can learn from the internet. Much better than Jeffmacks response but then he's probably been at the Bods again!

I'm going to have to go to bed now. It's the thought of Dotel and the frothy rub that's done it. Unfortunately I've got to the age where it takes all night to do what I used to do all night. Mind you, some ladies like that, so I'm told.

Good night lovely people.

Psst. Vasey, your bubbly is hidden in the bottom of the cooler, behind the sherry trifle.

MightyMicro - 30 Apr 2004 00:01 - 5491 of 23498

Am I too late for a glass of the house claret?
