How to profit from Betting Exchanges (BEX)

How would you like to trade a market where you get large regular price swings every 10 minutes in the afternoon, seven days a week. A
market where all prices are set purely by supply and demand, few transaction costs, no middle men and you only pay commission if you win? Where you can freely act as a market maker and where you have direct market access and where you can create a spread for others to take?

Betfair has revolutionised the betting market and created an open platform for exchanging risk on sports events. This market is now viewed much more like a traditional financial risk market than an old fashioned betting market. Smart users have realised that there are huge opportunities on Betfair because they can buy and sell risk in much the same way they would in a normal financial market but without the burden of cost or the restricted access that is usually associated with traditional financial markets.

If that had gone in I'd have been screwed!

Fundamentalist - 01 Nov 2005 21:18 - 5496 of 10502

Bak

be careful near the end, there could well be 4/5 mins of injury time

bakko - 01 Nov 2005 21:20 - 5497 of 10502

Thanks, Will bear that in mind.

Fundamentalist - 01 Nov 2005 21:24 - 5498 of 10502

Shocking goalkeeping - lucky the ref blew for free kick - not sure i want him as my last line of defense whilst scalping

Fundamentalist - 01 Nov 2005 21:25 - 5499 of 10502

This ref is one to watch out for - may well be long on bookings next time he refs in Europe - 2 for dissent, 1 for time wasting and 2 for tackles where the penalised player has won the ball

Terry now playing up front

If Chelsea lose, what will be Mourinho's excuse tonight - may i suggest "that the goalposts were the wrong shape that kept Essiens shot out"

bakko - 01 Nov 2005 21:34 - 5501 of 10502

Scousers showing Chelsea how it should be done as 3-0 up

Fundamentalist - 01 Nov 2005 21:36 - 5502 of 10502

10 yellow cards in a game with only one bad tackle (and that didnt get one of the 10 lol)

bakko - 01 Nov 2005 21:39 - 5503 of 10502

Turned in a modest profit but hard work though.

bakko - 01 Nov 2005 21:41 - 5504 of 10502

Steve,

Just had a thought. Since we're all at the traders do next Fri, fancy a night out on Thurs. Can throw it open to anyone on here

Fundamentalist - 01 Nov 2005 21:43 - 5505 of 10502

Bak

would suit me better to go out on the friday afterwards for a few beers but could try to rearrange the thursday

bakko - 01 Nov 2005 21:45 - 5506 of 10502

Thurs or Fri would be OK with me

Aristo - 01 Nov 2005 21:47 - 5507 of 10502

Made some good profit tonight but had to trade far to hard to turn my chelsea bet round. Over the years Lyon have always been a banker chelsea just seem to rhyme with that!

Fundamentalist - 01 Nov 2005 21:49 - 5508 of 10502

Aristo

Lyon are currently one of my fav teams to trade but im not a fan of backing sides in Turkey or Greece so left alone tonight but they are clear at top of french league and 4 from 4 in champs league - and still 14-1 to win it

Bak

See what John fancies and whether Scrip is up for a beer and we'll get something sorted

bakko - 01 Nov 2005 21:50 - 5509 of 10502

Aristo

Well done. Looks like we both worked quite hard tonight reversing out of bad positions.

bakko - 01 Nov 2005 21:51 - 5510 of 10502

Steve, OK on that

Aristo - 01 Nov 2005 21:56 - 5511 of 10502

Thanks Bakko was overtrading to include Chelsea, especially as a Canvey Island supporter (south london is not allowed) glad you made on it as well!

Site Outage Wednesday 2nd November Some changes to site security

Betfair Customer Services 01 Nov 10:21

We will be making an upgrade to the Betfair site from 0700 (GMT) on Wednesday 2nd November. We expect the site to be unavailable for a period of approximately four hours, and that we will be back online by 1100. Wed like to apologise for any inconvenience that this outage may cause.

The upgrade will feature some changes to our site that we wanted to pre-warn you about.

Remember Password:

We are disabling the Remember Password and AutoComplete functions to enhance the security of your account. This will mean that you will be required to manually type in your password every time you login. This is to limit the risk of other people being able to access your account.

Password length:

The minimum length of new passwords is being changed from 6 to 8 characters, with a mix of numbers and letters required. This is to encourage more secure passwords for Betfair members. Whilst this will only apply for new passwords for the time being (therefore only for new members or anyone changing their password), in the future we will be asking all members to conform to these new rules.

Browser detection:

We are also optimizing our browser detection to enable clear messages for those members using browsers not supported by the Betfair site. You can find more information about our minimum browser requirements in our Help section.
http://help.betfair.com/contents/itemId/i65767311/index.en.html

New member homepage:

We are trialing a new homepage for new visitors to the Betfair site. This will have no obvious impact on current members, but you may find that if you clear your cookies or access Betfair from a new computer that you visit a different homepage. There are clear links for current members back to our regular homepage.

During the outage, regular updates will be made to our service info page :
